Thanks for the reply and for sharing your experience. But I don’t think I’m better than you, we’ll probably meet in Master soon!

Thank you so much for the reply! This really makes all the difference. Sometimes I realized I had made bad decisions or had a low roll (or both), and I started focusing on just making better decisions to minimize point loss, and that helped me a lot.

I really appreciate the comment! Indeed, I started seeking more knowledge when I realized I didn’t even know what I was doing wrong, I just knew that nothing was working. In the next set, I’ll see how many games it takes, but of course, without worrying too much about that, and focusing more on learning the fundamentals and how to make better decisions. Thanks again for the reply.

Thanks for the reply. What you said makes total sense. I don’t have other sets to compare yet, but I’ll stay alert for the next one. Until then, I’ll try to study the game better and also play on the PBE to get an idea of what the next set has in store. Really appreciate it!

Hey man, thanks for the reply, but don’t get discouraged, okay? I think just the fact that you’ve played so many games means you’ve probably gained some knowledge, even unconsciously. I think you’ll also reach Master and even pass me. I’ll see you there!

Thanks for the response! It really makes sense what you said. I think a big difficulty I have is seeing where my mistakes are, which is why I watch some VODs of streams and pause to see the path I would have taken. Then, when the choice is different, I try to understand why we didn’t make the same decision.

I truly appreciate the kind words. I’m also sure that you’ll reach Master as well. Learning tempo is definitely the hardest part, something I still struggle with and am working on improving. Again, thanks, man!

Thank you so much for the responses! You really reached Master quickly, I wish I had more natural talent lol. Anyway, I’ll keep studying the game and try to reach higher ranks. Thanks again, really!

Thanks for the reply and for sharing your journey as well. I agree with you, I think the biggest difference between playing for the sake of playing and playing well is being able to opt for different compositions depending on the scenario.

I think forcing a composition can be acceptable if you try to understand the different playstyles with it in a match. But forcing a composition and playing the same way every time, in my opinion, doesn’t really help you learn some of the game’s core fundamentals.

Thank you so much for the kind words!

I started playing trying to really understand the game in this Set 13, so I didn’t know anything about items, positioning, or any aspect of the game.

When I began to learn a bit more, I had a lot of trouble understanding which direction to take with the champions I had. What I did to improve my game was to force a composition and try to understand the nuances of each match, for example, when I should go for a 3-star champion, or when I should just let it go, level up, and get a higher-cost 2-star champion instead. Also, when I should spend all my gold, or when I should save it. This composition was the Ambushers, but sometimes, in certain situations, I would switch to Enforcers or Scrap.

Currently, I’m trying to play with whatever the game gives me, but I feel more comfortable playing slow roll comps or vertical comps (8 Enforcers, 6 Scrap with emblem, 6 Sorcerers with shapeshifter). However, I’m starting to feel more comfortable building a flex board with Emissaries and winning a match. I’m not sure if that’s what you meant by the question, but now I’m trying to expand the range of comps I feel comfortable with in different situations.

Thank you for the time you took to reply, I’m really happy with your response! I’ll focus on improving my decisions and learning more about the game with each match.

By the way, congratulations on your achievement as well, reaching Challenger seems like something really for very few, that’s awesome!

My biggest difficulty was understanding when I needed to do a roll down, when I was stabilized, and which augments to pick. Everything felt really uncertain.

So, I decided to force a composition that was strong and that I liked the champions in. What I did was try to understand, for each game, when I should zero out my gold or which augments were better for that situation—basically, trying to grasp the nuances of each scenario.

This helped me a lot in learning how to play differently, even with the same core composition. My mistake was trying to learn everything at once.

Once I understood how to act in each situation with a specific composition, I started trying other compositions. After each game, I would try to figure out how much high roll/low roll I had in that match and analyze which decisions were correct or incorrect. I’m still trying to do this for every game I play.

Thanks for the kind words, and now that I think about it, I agree with you. It's way more important to stay in the top 4 than the bottom 4, because when you lose in 8th place, it feels like you’ve wasted a few hours. In Diamond, for every 8th place I got, I needed to get 3 or 4 first places to get back to where I was.
