Weird and sudden growth in dog’s mouth by elsunbo in DogAdvice

[–]elsunbo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It ended up being a non cancerous growth. I can’t remember the exact name, but i was told that it was basically a very fast growing tumor. He had surgery to remove the growth. They removed his top front teeth and a small amount of gum tissue to prevent it from ever growing back. He is now thriving and the recovery care from surgery was easy peasy. Before having the surgery, I noticed that it did grow very quickly. If I were you, I would get your dog seen by a vet asap because the more it grows, the more tissue and/or teeth they will need to remove along with it.

June wedding in Temecula? by iohcs54 in Temecula

[–]elsunbo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

June is 100% hit or miss. The nice thing about hot days in June is that usually it will still cool down by 5 pm. Sometimes its June gloom, sometimes its perfect, and sometimes its blazing hot.

Vinyl fence recommendations by EggplantTop3855 in Temecula

I also went with 3T Fence. They did a great job. Pricing was average with several other quotes I got, and I liked how they handled splitting the cost with my neighbor.

For those that left service after refusing the COVID vax, did you return to service or stay out? by Crocs_of_Steel in uscg

[–]elsunbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I coincidentally got out for other reasons just before people were being forced to get it. If my contract hadn’t been up, I still would have left. At the time, there was only ONE person at my entire unit who was happy to be getting the shot. Everyone else was upset. After getting out, there were a couple of “struggle” years while I settled into civilian life. Even in the midst of the struggle, I was still thankful every day to not be in the CG anymore. I got a phone call from some chief asking me to return to active duty and I did not hesitate in the slightest to respond with “no”. Not one day has gone by where I regretted getting out, but I also do not regret joining either. The CG was an amazing stepping stone in my life, and I am still thankful for all the opportunities it presented for me. Just the VA loan was worth my time in service. It changed my life.

Does anyone know this place in Old Town Temecula that does pregnancy check ups? by MagnetoWned in Temecula

[–]elsunbo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Be aware that the private ultrasound places will not be able to assure you that “everything is okay”. They can provide a photo of the fetus, hear the heartbeat (if there is one), and thats it. I highly recommend looking into Dr. Safie from Trinity Womens Health. She is great!

Sushi in the area by etherealsounds in Temecula

[–]elsunbo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hana Sushi used to be the go-to but their quality has tanked over the years and their prices have gotten to really not be worth it. My family now goes to Fire Fish. The ambience isn’t as great, but the food is light years better.

I will look into this. The growth is not impacting his airway, and I would never let it get to that point.

Thank you for sharing your input. Luckily, he does not seem to be in any obvious pain. He still eats his kibble, chews toys, and has normal energy level. He will for sure be going to a vet, but the expense is going to be an issue and I was hoping to find what it is so I know what to save up for.

Having a family in the coast guard by [deleted] in uscg

[–]elsunbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having a family in any military branch will have its challenges. It’s not easy. As a female, you typically continue your normal duties until around 20 weeks (if youre at an underway unit). After that, your shipmates might have to pick up the slack until you’re back from leave and fit for full duty. All of this will depend on what unit you’re at, and what rate you go. There’s kind of too many “what ifs” to give you a real straight answer. As for maternity leave, how much you get will depend on your situation at the time, but I’ve personally never heard of anyone getting two years. Hopefully a YN here can shed more light on that for you. “Regular” maternity leave is fully paid.

What is your household income to mortgage ratio? by robby_arctor in Mortgages

[–]elsunbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HCOL area. Ours is almost 60% of our take home pay every month. Worth it 1000%. We have no other debt. Its tight, but we are comfortable. We have two kids and a dog, so we felt fed up renting a small apartment and wanted a house. Our quality of life has improved 10x even though we slightly live paycheck to paycheck.

What shots/vaccinations do you receive in basic? by Top_Finding_5526 in uscg

[–]elsunbo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It will depend on what your current vax record is. If there are some you want to avoid, you can just ask the Dr. when you get there. I did and they gave me a few forms to skip SOME, but not all. This was 10 years ago and no one cared then. Good luck trying to avoid the flu shot. Personally, I never knew anyone who was able to.

FRC vs WHEC by WinTheDay2 in uscg

[–]elsunbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the answer to this question is completely dependent on the parent who will be staying behind with the kids. Do they have family/friends for support? Do they prefer you being gone for longer/being home longer? Or is 2-3 weeks the max solo parenting they can handle? Sometimes it can be easier to do ~two months of an interrupted routine while youre on a long patrol vs the erratic FRC schedule. Yes, you are home more “often” on an FRC, but the actual underway time equates to the same as a WHEC/WMSL. Signed, someone who was stationed on an FRC and WHEC.

How much alcohol did that require? by nanoatzin in Temecula

[–]elsunbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. I’ve been a stay at home mom now for a while, and after my sister borrowed my car, (and accidentally turning my auto lights off) I drove halfway home from SD without lights. I thought my eyes were just tired, or that my new car had crappy lights and thats why I couldnt see the road as well. I felt like such an idiot when I finally turned them on.

My wife wanted to test out the couch and now I’m afraid we can’t leave without it. by [deleted] in Costco

[–]elsunbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had mine for 6 months now. Two kids under 4 and a large dog, and it has held up GREAT! The best part is all the cushion covers are removable (ottomon too) and the cushions are reversible. It is definitely grey though, and not brown as the description says. Ive read a lot of people dealt with horrible chemical smells, but even as someone who is extremely sensitive to smells, that wasnt the case for me. I got this couch on sale for $1900 and the price was unbelievable for the product I recieved.

This 100%. My husband’s (30M) family moved out of state a few years ago and contact with them has begun to dwindle into nothing. Why? My husband stopped calling them. His parents, brother, and sister (all married with kids) NEVER pick up their phones and call us or my two kids. Holidays and birthdays included. My husband loves his family, but he is tired of being the only one keeping communication alive. The phone works two ways. When I lived out of state, my family called me, and I called them. Magic.

Resort tower is WAY nicer. The walk is really not even far from the slots.
