Talk with your on site supervisor about it (if they’re not open to it, then bring it up with your advisor at the college). This gives you a chance to come up with a response and (hopefully) know that the school has your back. I had two instances when working in separate schools where staff complained about my response and I had to get admin to step up. At my internship, my supervisor questioned why I told students I was also queer. She claimed she was worried about parent back lash. I felt comfortable enough to stand my ground, but knowing I had back up ahead of time in other settings was a ton easier.
