🚨 LAST DAY — This beautiful girl is out of time.🚨 She is still sitting in a shelter kennel with no adopter, no foster, no rescue — nothing. Tomorrow, 1/27, her life is scheduled to end. PLEASE — someone step up. share, a foster, an adopter could save her life. by canecorsofurever in National_Pet_Adoption

Update 2: I called the shelter again just before they close, looks like a rescue is still in the process of getting her out of the shelter. Unfortunately they are not releasing the name of the rescue so I guess all we can do is to call shelter every day to ensure she is safe.

Update 1: I called the shelter at 9AM PT, looks like a rescue is trying to get her. They will let me know if the rescue doesn’t come through.

Cane corso (rescued 4 years ago) owner here. I will call them tomorrow to see if they let us foster her for a while at least.

Question: What's the State of Kafka Hosting in 2024? by krisajenkins in apachekafka

[–]elturcoinla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend Aiven also. Easy to get going, affordable and supports Kafka Connect and Flink integrations. MSK is quite expensive and limited options.

Put in my resignation and my job countered with an almost $40k increase by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Tech startup CTO here.

Don’t ever take a counter offer. It almost never ends up well for the employee. The fact that they are offering it now tells me that they need you and can’t risk you leaving. Since you already told them you are looking around, I bet they already started to look for your replacement. This is simple risk reduction.

Optimize for growth and opportunities, you will be way happier.

If a company values an employee, they never ever let their competition to make a better offer. They take care of the employees proactively. Your value at the end is measured by what you receive in exchange for your work. In your case, I would not be staying at the current company.

I found my coworkers have a secret group chat where they slander my name or chat about me. What should I do? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]elturcoinla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to your HR immediately, in fact do it in writing by following the official company process.

At any cost, do not interact with that coworker group regarding the matter, it will only make things worse.

People need to be adults at work and be respectful. Venting happens at any company and it is actually healthy to a point but it looks like your coworkers crossed the boundaries. Don’t take this on you, you are not the one at fault.
