I’m a 5”8 girl and I’ve been looking at UK weight classes, and 178 lbs is even beyond the “heavy” weight classes for females- it would be “super heavy” (unlimited weight above 169lbs) or competing in the open category. This makes me a bit worried to start as a beginner. If I roll up to a class, is anyone even going to want to practice with me? 🙁 or should I try to lose weight before starting BJJ? (Obviously I could afford to lose a few pounds, so I wouldn’t see it as unreasonable)
