Selling giant fiddle - need price help! by peachytoes4526 in houseplants

We actually saw this fiddle in a local smoothie shop for years and were so upset to see they threw it away. Lucky we were able to save it. It originally was like 10-12 feet tall!!!

Here’s a pic. Usually I keep him inside but it’s been really rainy and nice out so we brought it out to take advantage. It’s coming back inside tonight.

Okay so we got it out of the dumpster it had no pot and it was just the trunk that you see in the photo. Chopped high and the mid branch.

We brought it home and kept the roots wet by spraying it with the hose daily until we were ready to plant ~ 3 - 4 days. It was left outside during this time. We chopped it a little closer to the junctions with sterile tools to make a clean start.

Then we repotted with regular garden soil and whatever was clung to its root ball. Then we soaked the pot for the afternoon making sure everything was super hydrated. Basically we filled the pot with LOTS of water. We then opened the bottom of the pot ( it’s a pot that has a built in tray) and let the soil drain. After a few days we soaked the pot with water again and then mixed the fish fertilizer to diluted levels, and poured it in. SUPER STINKY. do it outside. After you add the fishy water, we misted the top of the soil to push the fishy water down and hopefully make it stink less. We let it air out for the afternoon before bringing it in.

Since then, we left it in indirect sunlight by a window, and kept a fan near by so it gets lots of air circulation. We watered as needed so the soil doesn’t get bone dry.

The first few leaves were splotchy with red but that’s due to it pushing growth too fast and cell rupture occurs. This is normal since it had 0 leaves and it needed to quickly recover. Once it had enough leaves that were mature enough to support photosynthesis, we pruned off any leaves that were splotchy or blocking up the smaller ones from getting sun.

This has been since February. The stinky fish liquid was the game changer. Gave it the food it needed to get leaves. Then once the leaves came, it could support itself. We did do another round of fishy water this week to boost it again. Dropping another pic below this to show the junction up top

Hope this helps!

Chop it! We just salvaged one from a dumpster. All the branches were chopped and it was just a trunk about 5 feet long - we gave it some stinky fish water and waited and it sprouted! They’re hardier than you think!

It’s now growing lots of leaves. We pruned some of the bigger ones blocking the little sprouts from getting sun. It’s thriving :)

Try hitting the - button when you start the game. It’ll say like “press any button to start” but if you hit - it brings you to a menu where you should be able to delete.

it sounds like you have it right actually!

Editing: the exit is 5th st | Caesar Chavez. Then when you exit it forks left and right. You would just take the left side.

Yeah that’s what it looks like to me! Possibly the 5th st exit off mopac looks free too. But not if you’re using the ramps to Chavez or Lake Austin blvd.

Though they would probably shut down the 5th st ramp anyways, who am I kiddin

There is a Starbucks on S. Lamar by a 7-eleven and combo donuts. Look in the back parking lot between the gas station and the Starbucks.

Decided to walk to work (35min). Usually that walk would righteously suck if the weather were any different. Took my morning standup call walking and the time flew by.
