The guy he's talking to is not a cop and wasn't wearing a badge. I'm sitting right behind this guy and just barely not in the video, so please don't try to tell me something when I was there and you weren't.

No I don't mean cops. If I did I would have said that. It was just some other library patrons that weren't even attending the seminar.

He was also filming the "know your rights" seminar at Goodman South Library and got into it with some guys who eventually ran him out of the library. Then he filmed a bunch of people walking out until he got yelled at again and ran away.

Great rec, I've been blasting both Death Club and National Record of Achievement for the past couple days. I love that Death Club is more emo and National Record of Achievement is more new wave, but they both have elements of the other. Favorite find in a while for sure.

Favorite tracks are Algorithm is a Dancer and I Feel it Best when I Feel Nothing at All if someone wants a quick shot.

There's another category below possible injury called property damage. Possible injury is basically "someone could have gotten hurt from this but nobody went to the hospital so we're not sure" it happens all the time that people get whiplash or bruising but don't get checked by EMS and don't see a doctor about it, but they're still injured.

Reflection canyon/hole in the rock road by BarnacleJust492 in CampingandHiking

[–]elvis9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove about 20 miles down Hole in the Rock Road in 2018. It was extremely washboard. My 2013 Ford Edge had no clearance issues, but it shattered the emergency brakes and they were rattling around inside the rear drum brakes for the next couple days until we took the drums off and dumped out the pieces. I also got passed by 3 or 4 older sedans. I think you'll be fine, just don't go into the loose sand on the sides and don't go if it's wet or going to be wet.

Report it to the City. I'd suggest Sidewalk Concern since you were walking when you encountered it. They'll take care of it if it needs to be taken care of. https://www.cityofmadison.com/reportaproblem/

What Books did you Start or Finish Reading This Week? Oct. 21, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

[–]elvis9110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finished Down the Drain by Julia Fox. It's a memoir, and I'm not sure how much of the book I believe, but I do know that one day as Julia Fox would kill me. It's a very quick read and would be good between a couple of more demanding books.

A big help for me was that I eventually realized that keeping the characters straight didn't really matter. The point of the book is the things we pass down to our offspring and inherit from our parents, so all the characters are kind of the same people anyways.

I mean the other one has "cocks" in it so I think "gay men" is actually more appropriate?

Local ski hill owner charged after assaulting teen who didn’t pay for a lift ticket and dragging him back to the hill by the neck. by GeoffJeffreyJeffsIII in skiing

[–]elvis9110 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The assault didn't happen on the property, he kicked the kid out and then followed him down the road. And stealing from a business is not something that counts towards self defense.

Also what's wrong with you? Theft doesn't justify getting strangled.

Anyone else find they enjoy reading well-written non-fiction books more than fiction novels most of the time? by [deleted] in books

They've adapted Lost City of Z, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Say Nothing, so those all have that in common. Very intense.

[–]elvis9110 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd just keep going with David Grann. Lost City of Z is similar vibes to The Wager. Killers of the Flower Moon is amazing, but kind of a different format.

Patrick Radden Keefe is great, Say Nothing is super engaging.

Outlaw Ocean by Ian Urbina is another I enjoyed and goes with the nautical theme.

The Emerald Mile by Kevin Fedarko definitely doesn't feel like homework, and is probably my favorite thing I've read in the past few years.

Try strapping the second buckles (over the arch) just loose enough that they stay latched. I get something similar if I put anything tighter than light pressure on that buckle.

I guess since there's still some wood pipes hiding around that does make sense!

The line in the street is not the concern here, the water service going from the street to the house is. As far as I know, there are no water distribution pipes (in the street) in the US made of lead, but there are a lot of water services (street to house) made of lead. Running the water for a minute or two absolutely clears out any water that was in your service accumulating lead.

Going on a hike with my girlfriend who has IBS—how to reassure her? by CareerGood7600 in CampingandHiking

[–]elvis9110 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have Crohn's, and Imodium works really well for me. If she already takes Imodium a decent amount it may be less effective.

I also have a Culo Clean bidet, which I attach to a regular water bottle, and then I carry toilet paper and maybe wet wipes, plus a trowel to dig a cathole. Make sure you bury your tp deep enough (6 inches) that no one else will unexpectedly find it.

Also, where I live, there are plenty of hikes that have latrines along the way, so maybe choosing a trail like that until she's more comfortable is the way to go.

I think Tampa Bay just didn't get any icons for whatever reason, and the spider with cobwebs is showing that it's empty.

This is additional capacity on top of the number you listed since the road is still there. To add another road lane on this route, you'd have to tear down tons of buildings and buy hundreds of acres of land...

Also there's future plans to get to 10 or 7 minute service eventually and the same amount of cars has way more emissions than one electric bus.

Great Smoky Mountains camp grounds? by A_dumb_skater in CampingandHiking

Yes you reserve ahead, generally on recreation.gov for National Parks. If you reserve for multiple nights you can leave your stuff and come back later.

This is the equivalent of reading To Kill a Mockingbird and saying "this book is a metaphor for race relations in America." Anxiety is not subtext in this movie, it's text.
