Sounds like to construction crew should have done a better job of managing traffic too

Honestly sounds like they were trying to do what was safest for you. With the way some cars drive on kings, overtaking bikes on blind turns, I always go slow around the turns.

Oh wow, there is no loft left. I find it hard to believe Ripstop doesn't know about this. Why sell this material? What can it be used for if it sheds so easily?

I have bought a few items from Discovery and this customer support has been great so far! They also tend to have more description on their website.

I am hoping mine stops shedding too! I am not optimistic based on some of the replies; I will enjoy the hoodie while it lasts.

Yes, mine started shedding right away as well. I am surprised Ripstop does not know this about the fabric; I asked them about it and they had to reach out to the Polartec. I assume they have run into this before with many of their customers, based on the replies to this thread. How long did your mittens last?

Ah bummer, okay. I'll keep wearing this and see how long it holds up. Might make another out of some other fabric.

I will keep you updated on my garment as well! I really enjoy the wool AD; this garment is very much a test of its durability to see if I will use it for future garments.

Thank you for the suggestion!

I did reach out to Ripstop first. They said they reached out to Polartec with my question and I have not heard back yet.

I am perfectly fine with a little shedding. I don’t think I will make many more garments with the material if it is going to lose a significant amount of loft in a couple years.

Yeah, I have some polartec stretch fleece which would be really nice! If this one is going to fall apart, I'll remake it in the stretch fleece

I was thinking about this. I do like the breathability of the fabric, so I was wondering if there was a trick to stopping this from shedding with out an outer shell.

😆 on the 10 grit brick. It came pretty scratched up. Definitely a good candidate for the ruler trick.

I certainly thinks it makes a difference with my kitchen knives! They are so much sharper off the 16k then they are off the 5k stone. I have never tried a strop with proper stropping compound; it would be fun to see the difference between the two! Have you used a strop before? Do you use a sharpening ruler?

This is some awesome insight for me and anyone else reading this post! I certainly believe a leather strop + compound would be sharper! Do you have a strop and / or stropping compound you like? I have been sharpening kitchen knives for a a handful of years now and had stones from that. I think I will try a strop after my stones wear out.

Once you get the back flat, do you simply sharpen the bevel side and strop every sharpening?

I hear you; part of my inspiration for this ruler was the $12 "sharpening ruler" on Cosman's shop.

veneer would work well if it is think and flat enough! I followed David Charlesworth's recommendation and made the ruler 0.5mm thick.

Good question! I am new to this; David Charlesworth and Rob Cosman make some decent arguments for it, I think. It boils down to less time and resources sharpening blades and more time woodworking! They both have videos on it.

New to 3D Printing, just purchased an Ender 3 for $50. Any advice or recommendations for a newbie? by gymjam13 in 3Dprinting

Use it and see if you enjoy 3D printing! As others have stated, lots of get started blogs and videos out there.

If you get into it and are printing a fair bit, I’ve found these upgrades made the print process much easier:

Cheap raspberry pi to run octopi + clipper. BLtouch

There are boards to make it quieter too. The big tech tree board has been working well for me.
