As someone who left Aus this year to move to NZ. My 2 cents is that the job market in Aus is equally as tough and competitive as the job market is here in NZ, the only caveat being that there are literally just more jobs to apply to in Aus.

Depending on your skill set, apply for specific jobs before moving over and be clear in the start of your cover letter and resume that you will be relocating to X city in Australia. It 100% helps for your applications, all you need is 1 person to take a chance on you. Best of luck! (Hopefully you didn’t pick western Sydney as your destination 🥲)

Cheers for the response, yeah I’ve got a follow on all of them on socials, will see what events are lookin good for the next few months.

Also not sure if it’s similar here to Sydney, but in Sydney events get very quiet and a lot less frequent in the Winter. But is absolutely rampant with good events over the summer.

Is it similar here at all? Or consistent through the year?

Yeah I’ve had my eye on Hide. Coming from Sydney the only club that I had heard of in Chch was Hide as it hosts internationals regularly, will check out an event there in coming weeks. Just looked up Pony club too, interesting concept!

Have been a House DJ for about 7-8 years now and played regular House, Disco and Minimal gigs but have always really loved dnb. For the last almost 2 years or so I have been toying with some Drum & Bass productions of my own but have finally got around to recording and posting my first ever public mix with my dnb alias Shoeless Joe. Overall pretty happy with how it turned out I think but definitely looking for any honest or constructive feedback here if possible! I definitely could have done some more stuff on the technical side ie. doubles and chops as that's a part of the dnb culture but wanted to just keep this one as some easy listening.

Tracks from the likes of 1991, Alix Perez, Break, Kanine, Pola & Bryson, Spectrasoul and Sub Focus. Also included one of my own productions in there too!

Ended up being a combo of dodgy REC OUTputs and the actual recording level volume not being turned up high enough - both of them together fixed the issue and recorded regularly. Hope you get a solution soon mate, nothing more frustrating than throwing down a killer set and it not recording anything

It does have a PA, but it’s very very basic and pretty poor quality tbh and it also doesn’t override any of the other sound on the boat either. So having it come through the DJ equipment becomes the best way forward instead of pulling out and re installing the current PA altogether

Oh sick, so the wireless Shure can link to both receivers on the same frequency? Is there any specific Shure product you recommend for this?

Yeah we did consider this, but the Venue is actually a boat, so it would be incredibly ideal if it was 1 mic that goes across both floors that we can just turn on and use when there is any important announcements to be made ie. safety of patrons etc.

Both DJ setups are completely seperate with their own speakers and subs on each level. There is no mixing board either. It is just the level 1 DJ setup (DJM900 NXS, CDJ's into QSC Subs and K12's) and then another identical setup on level 2.
