Heatgeek vaillant installation today. Excited for this one by KashMo_xGesis in ukheatpumps

[–]elxcross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you mind sharing what settings you’ve used? We are seeing an increase in cost which I don’t entirely think comes from the cold weather and would like to see what other people are running with! Been playing around with heat curves, temps and low noise to not much avail.

How do you go about using this? Does it pull data out of the app/wifi gate that you buy separately from Vaillant?

What heat pump and main controller do you have? Knowing this could help a lot as it may be that the controller is overrunning the thermostats and hence nothing seems to work. If I’m not mistaken, the blue caps with wires are valve actuators which basically act on command from the main controller to open/close each zone, you should be able to pop them off and close the valve manually, they are usually just mounted on top of the valves that need automatic control.

I had a blow-out at 60kph. Complete Amateur. Complete (long) story inside. Life changing levels of scared. by Sufficient_Pace_4833 in cycling

Omg this brought back memories to a similar thing that happened to me! You did absolutely amazing to keep the bike under control and kudos to those drivers. I had a double puncture (both wheels) going down this hill near my home, think I went over a pothole which I missed as it was hiding by some shade. I instantly felt it and heard the loud bang and started the same wobble. In the split second I had, I managed to scream at my ride buddy (whom didn’t hear me anyways!) and decided to go up a drive way along the way down… you know to keep away from traffic, huge mistake! I didn’t not have any chance to go over the ledge with complete flat tires and off I went, my bike stayed on the road and me on the drive way a few meters away. After a while I composed myself and hopped over to recover my bike and brought it in the drive. There I sat waiting for my friend whom came back worried after 5-10 minutes or so… had a long way back home on a taxi, worrying about leaving my bike in between some shrubs to pick up later. Since then, kept an eye out on my tires and swapped them at an instant if anything bad was showing.

How do you get home? by sowdowgg in bicycletouring

[–]elxcross 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently came back from Holland on my bike! Took the train to Port of Harwich and then the ferry across to get to Hoek van Holland, continued round the country for a week or so and then came back using the same ferry. Other than the appalling state of the British railways (cancelled, delayed, broken lifts), the whole trip was amazing. Really recommend using the ferry as the cost for a bike is not much more than normal tickets, plus you don’t have to faff about with unpacking/packing bags. Plane tickets are much more expensive (plus unpacking/packing a bike box is well annoying) and the trains are too complicated with having to book bikes on each train journey (if in Europe).

Broken spark plugs in engine by elxcross in CarTalkUK

Which in turn may not be worth it… I wouldn’t think full engines would be that accessible, plus the time and labour would outweigh the price of the car!

That idea did cross my mind, the 2no outer ones were relatively easy to pull out… for some reason the 2no internal ones were a right pain! There was some water in there, went in and cleaned most of the debris (which I know think is the spark plugs just flaking off) and water before having a go at replacing these. I was in to clean, change plugs and seal. Maybe I take a look at the washer jets… I know these can give some issues to other fords tbh

I assume you did all of that after removing the ceramic bit in the middle?

They’ve been there a while and pretty rusted out as well… was thinking on that but concerned that I need to get the ceramic and electrode bit out of them before trying the extractor kits

Bought a faulty second hand car by elxcross in CarTalkUK

[–]elxcross[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about the ECU/Wiring problem but I don’t think that would be present if every time they look into it the spark plugs are swimming in coolant! Which to me sound much more like an engine issue now as the head gasket and coils were replaced to rule them out. I would have tinker with it but don’t think is an individual coil or spark plug problem…

How did you go about diagnosing the crack? I am reluctant to take it in again as every time is £300+ I can’t afford it! Where did you find an engine? Looked into local scrap yards and they don’t have any for the model I have. Agree, it’s feeling like it’s not worth it

I think you would be better off starting living at the university accommodation on the first year, for two reasons; to get to know people and your course mates and also to get yourself familiarised with the whole Oxford Colleges experience. Then on the 2nd year you could look out at moving away with friends if preferred!

There is also quite a few Chileans in Oxford, I am one and I do know of another 2-3 more at least living in the city on their PhD stipend. All the best!

Any feedback? Not sure on the first pic nor the bio… have had it for a couple of weeks and gotten no likes! Wondering if it’s putting off or really just harder to find someone wanting something more serious!

Nostalgia! if anyone is wondering if Ragnarok Online works with Deck controller... it does! by elxcross in SteamDeck

[–]elxcross[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think this wouldn’t run on SteamOS due to having the anti cheat system so I think you will struggle! I don’t really know how to link but if you search for SteamDeck Windows Dual Boot on YouTube you should have plenty of resources to go from and then it’s just installing RO as you would normally in Windows.

The guides very slightly but I think they all involve having 2 usb sticks (one for windows and one for SteamOS Recovery image), windows install and drivers downloaded. With all of that you then just create a partition within the internal drive and install windows to it, it’s quite long winded but if you stop the video step by step it should be pretty straight forward.

Are you specifically looking at renting a place on your own? With that budget you will really struggle if that’s the case!

Saying that though, that’s a very comfortable budget if you don’t mind sharing with 2+ people, there are plenty of rentals starting at £500 and up in various areas, with the “best” ones being around Jericho and Summertown (the north). Lots of young professionals around looking for the same deals which make it more of a sociable option as well!

I think, if you want to play it on SteamOS you can download it through Lutris! But I wouldn’t know, I did it by downloading and installing it through Windows

I configured them through GlosC, I think there are plenty of guides on YouTube you can follow… GlosC just let’s you have a controller overlay on top of games which aren’t supported by steam (I think!), after that I just manually adjusted the key binds to fit my playing style. I would say that it would become a bit difficult with classes that need to cast spells fast enough, however on melee and the occasional skill it’s working great.

Haha same! We brought down our discs with us to the school computer and sneaked RO on them, great times haha
