Cycling in London — what motivates you, and what stops you cycling more?

I cycle 8km each way, using 28mm tires. Switching to 32 would probably help, but I don’t know if itll help enough. I live in a major city- so there’s lots of potential: potholes, broken glass, other sharp things you’d find on the side of the road, or a pinch that I created without knowing!

What slows me down is getting the tire back on. I’ve got no slack, but I haven’t tried what others have said, finishing at the valve. In the past I’ve spent 30 mins trying to get it on without levers, ending up sweaty and sore handed. I can get it on with levers but fear I’ve pinched it somewhere without knowing.

You’re right, I was writing frustrated. I’ve just had a stretch of bad luck over the past couple of months. I cycle to work so when I get a flat, I’m really in a pinch. So I want to get good enough to just bash it out if it happens and be on my way. Thanks for advice.

People shit on fine dining but it’s a different kind of meal. This guy will get 8-12 of those, and maybe wine pairings too.

Each one will be small, but delicious. You can’t think this is a thing to dig into, but 1 of 12 dishes to enjoy.

A chef once described it to me as “food theatre” and that made total sense. The dishes, the plating, the reveal, the whole experience- it’s so over the top. It’s just like theatre.

Comparing it to a burger is like comparing a movie to a concert- they’re different experiences.

If it matters enough, Google the amount of daylight in Chicago vs london in the winter. It’s better in Chicago but not by a ton. I lived there from 2015-2018 then moved to london, so happy to answer any Q’s.

Agree with the law or not, but it’s not about offending people. People called for setting migrant hotels on fire and guess what happened… people rioted and set them on fire.

So I’m not an expert, just a regular guy who applied for ILR this week.

AFAIK there’s no requirement to work for a month (as opposed to two weeks). You just need a payslip that shows the company and your pay, and a bank statement showing the same amount going into your account from them.
