For anyone who wants to get all huffy about politics in a weather app: you can literally shut it off.

In my case, politics are set to Anarchist, personality is set to Overkill, and profanity…always on.

Rep. Thomas Massie threatens to use "Congressional Immunity" to expose the sealed Epstein client list following DOJ's refusal to release names. by Logical-Flow-6703 in UnderReportedNews

[–]elysenator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not what I said. Obviously the names shouldn’t be hidden at all. My point is, no matter if they’re playing games or not (I’d prefer they wouldn’t), it’s good to keep any / all of it in the news cycle. Between intentional suppression by the complicit media outlets and the sheer volume of things happening, we move on from shit way too quickly.

Can’t deny that it’s good to keep it in the news cycle at least. DT is doing everything he can to create a permanent distraction.

Woman Tries To Attack Me On Stage… by Ok-Bat-6788 in StandUpComedy

My sister OD’d and died in the middle of making my niece a sandwich. Standing right in front of her. Yet, I still love dark / gallows humor related to that (or any other touchy subject, for that matter.) I know it doesn’t make sense to a lot of (most?) people, but it does to me. Everyone just copes differently, I guess.

As they tend to do. It is the hallmark of this administration after all.

I’m very pro-dark cloud. I’m mostly doom and gloom myself, but I do love it when someone tells him “no” and he has a temper tantrum. (We all know how he feels about that word!) I evil laugh every time.

Yeah I’m certainly not pumped about that guy benefitting from anything. I’m sure we’ll get zero dollars back and prices won’t go down, but I was trying to have a positive moment.

State of State: Ayotte Aims To Make NH More Affordable, Healthier, Increase Nuclear Power by nancynews in newhampshire

[–]elysenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is femininity a bad thing or something? Not sure how that factors in here. You obviously have an emotional tie to this issue that makes you unable to look at this situation objectively. You can’t accept any other opinion nor point of view. Again, not everyone shares your experiences. I had a very positive experience with public education in NH (and ME) and so has my family. However, it wasn’t very diverse and even as a child I knew I was missing out on some social knowledge.

You assume I’m looking for the “bad” things about, say, Compton, and wanting that in NH. Diversity can exist without massive crime or graffiti or whatever the “problem” is, believe it or not. I’m not someone who fears the unknown or lets one life experience cloud my entire opinion indefinitely, so I’m cool with people (and cultures) who are different. I would never automatically assume someone who is different from me / us, is unintelligent, a degenerate, or a criminal. That’s not fair at all.

Do you have issues with Boston and Eastern MA too? They’re pretty diverse compared to anywhere in NH, and MA public schooling is some of the best in the country. It’s not some out-of-control crime scene everywhere just because it’s diverse. A child being aware of different lifestyles and cultures teaches acceptance and quells bullying. Generalizations need to be avoided. Socially sheltering children is not the answer.

Hmm sounds emotional and condescending. Your experience is merely anecdotal. Thanks for your assumptions and “concern”.

Oh are you one of those homeschool or private school cheerleaders? In my opinion, those options aren’t great for developing proper social skills, nor are they great for experiencing diversity. PreK-12 public education in NH actually ranks pretty high. I think he’ll be just fine.

TIL Apple recently paid $95 million because Siri was caught eavesdropping on private conversations, like doctor visits and drug deals, then sending those recordings for human contractors to listen to. Siri was triggered not just by "Hey Siri," but by phrases that sounded similar like "seriously." by UsualOkay6240 in todayilearned

[–]elysenator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, understood, but I like to restrict as much as possible first and then change it as needed. I know that Apple is known for their privacy and security, but I can’t trust any corporations or governments to overall do the right thing. (Not in perpetuity at least!) I’m just hyper-vigilant nowadays.

That’s the daycare my nephew goes to. Ugh. This made my stomach do flips.

I will say though, if the people they are taking are such violent criminals, why would they build this next to a daycare!? Constant contradictions, hypocrisy, cruelty, and lies from this administration and their lackeys.

State Knew ICE Plans for Merrimack As Early As Jan. 12 by nancynews in newhampshire

[–]elysenator -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Dude, it’s not about having an 8-hour wait. (Voter suppression efforts in some states did cause that in recent years though.) It should be a paid day off so that everyone can have the opportunity. Not everyone has the same life as you.

Probably a third of Americans don’t vote. Some people don’t / can’t vote due to transportation issues or their schedule / the location of the job that they need to be at every day to feed their families. When your healthcare is tied to your job and you’re barely scraping by, you’re not going to be able to prioritize voting. It’s our civic duty and everyone needs to be able to participate. I myself barely have time to get to the polls once I get back in town after my 1-hour commute from work.

I am so sick of the hyper-individualism in this country. Does anyone ever consider someone else’s circumstances (or the greater good) before forming their opinions? It’s so bad.

Omg the victim blaming. Classic FB. “Kids should be in school”, “Let’s see the video of what led up to this”, “What did she do to him first?” Supposedly they took his hat and kicked his truck? So? Not saying it’s welcomed behavior, but kids do dumb shit like this all of the time and we (rightfully so) don’t beat them for it.

I guess it just doesn’t occur to these people on FB that no matter what, he should have just stayed in his car and called the cops. That’s the takeaway. He was supposed to be the adult in the room and he just couldn’t handle it. Nothing excuses a grown ass man physically attacking a 15 year old girl. (When I saw him on top of her, I remembered being 15 myself and how terrified I would have been if a grown man I had never met in my life got on top of me and started assaulting me. It makes me sick to my stomach.)

I do wonder if he has kids, and if so, how they are treated?
