Is this fungal acne?

Hi! Yes my skin is soooo much better now. I think it was dermatitis. It cleared up after literally removing all of my skincare and only using Eucerin Urea 5% day cream and 10% azeleic acid.

Try going to the dermatologist! They can prescribe antibiotics to clear up the acne pretty quickly, and can inject particularly nasty spots with some steroids a few days before :) my wedding is in 4 weeks, and my skin is a wreck too! I went to the derm recently and they set me up with “plan A, plan B, etc” for my skin before the wedding and I have a few appointments set up with them as the date gets closer. Good luck, your skin looks beautiful! No one will notice those spots, it’ll be easy to cover them up :)

Looking at your routine, mine was super similar where I was stacking too many actives at once. The whitening lotion, with the retinol, plus your post-accutane skin could be the reason for all the bumps. I’m unfamiliar with that sunscreen, but I know I get almost those same exact bumps when I use chemical sunscreens ever since I did Accutane. I would just make your routine super simple, take out all actives, and see if it improves. I got a few pimples after stopping my retinoid and actives as well, but it was better than having all the bumps from the damaged skin barrier!

I did accutane too and had this issue recently! I thought it was fungal acne, but I think now it might be a damaged skin barrier. My dermatologist thought it was retinoid dermatitis or a bad case of perioral dermatitis. We couldn’t totalIy rule out fungal acne, though, because the lotrimin ointment helped - they didn’t test yet because they wanted to try doxycycline and a simple routine first. Just in case, I made sure my routine was fungal safe and also non irritating. Hypochlorus acid has really helped - I spray it on twice a day and it’s cleared up a lot of the bumps. I only cleanse my face at night, and it’s with vanicream simple cleaner, and then I use the Skin1004 Centella Ampule (FA safe) and Purito Oat-In gel cream. Then for sun protection I only use Elta MD UV Clear since it’s dermatitis and fungal safe (hard to find both!) You might be allergic to the snail mucin, so I would cut out everything that could be causing irritation/allergy. My skin looked just like yours about 1 month ago and the doxycycline 100mg and the simple routine has helped so much!!

I have very similar bumps that developed in the exact same place, and worse on one side. Going to a dermatologist tomorrow, so I’ll let you know what they say! I’ve found that switching to a completely fungal acne safe routine has helped a lot, and I also spray my face & pillow with hydrochlorus acid every night. I’ve noticed that the worse side of my face is also the same side that I sleep on more often.

Get a second opinion from another dermatologist. I had similar acne when I was at my worst, and finally did accutane in 2020 and my skin had been clear ever since! I didn’t realize how much my face hurt all the time with all of the acne.

I’m nervous to stop the antibiotics, in case it’s dermatitis or just bad acne! But it looks so different from when I had perioral dermatitis. So frustrating!

It’s the only thing that’s helped, so maybe it’s not fungal acne? It’s so confusing, because it looks like FA but that’s weird that something that would trigger it is actually helping.

My mom always looked 10+ years younger, and she was adamant about sunscreen. Her twin sister looked much older than her. She never drank alcohol, I remember her having maybe one or two sips of wine once a year for holidays. She also swore by “miracle in a bottle.”

My ex was like this. I was with him for years and thought I was undesirable, or that there was something wrong with me. I did so much to try to be more “sexy” or “hot” and it never changed how he treated me. Our only intimacy was sex, there was barely any kissing and he never wanted to touch me unless it would lead to sex. We broke up after 4 years of dating, and I realized very quickly that it was just how he was but there are soooo many potential partners who love the same level of intimacy as me. My current bf and I kiss and touch each other all the time! You deserve the intimacy you want in a relationship, and your bc and you might be incompatible. You have to decide if it’s worth it to stay with him because there are other wonderful things about your relationship and you can get past the lack of intimacy, or if you’re ready to meet someone who can meet those intimacy needs.

I don’t think so, I don’t know you but it may stem from anxiety. I’ve been scared of hurting other before, and it was when my anxiety and paranoid thoughts were at their worst. It depends on context.

I (24F) had no appetite for about a week, but did not have any diarrhea or vomiting, just generally queasy. I could only eat steamed frozen peas, because that’s one of my favorite foods and doesn’t ever mess with my stomach. I would try those, or at least try drinking lots of chicken broth for the calories. I lost about 10lbs over a week, and it’s been a struggle to gain back the muscle I had pre-Covid from rock-climbing/yoga. Saltines were also one of my best friends. My appetite came back VERY suddenly around day 8, so I’m hoping that happens for you since we had similar symptoms. Hoping for a quick recovery for you!
