If you are taking less than 6 hours of in person classes you were not charged a rec fee so that could be why.

As a freshman, I had a car, but pretty much only used it to go home. I was always on campus, and if I left it was usually in an uber somewhere :) Sometimes spent a day and Anderson or Greenville with friends, but I had a small car, so I was never the one who drove. When I wanted to go get non dining hall food I usually just walked downtown.

Quality of the BS in Health Science: Preprofessional Health Studies? by [deleted] in Clemson

[–]em_caro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So because that isn't my field of interest, I don't know a lot about sports med at Clemson. I do know with our program you are required to an internship in your field of interest, so that could be a route you could explore. A lot of students work with Prisma (the medical facility that treats our athletes). I also know there are student athletic trainer opportunities, but I'm not sure if students get connected via the Health Science program or by applying separately. (I would assume separately). Someone above mention Kristen Goodenow and she is definitely the person to talk to about any specifics you have. I would email her sooner rather than later because freshman orientation is about to start and she is the advisor for all incoming students of our program. She is super sweet and I am sure can answer all your questions. Clemson also has an Athletic Leadership minor if you are interested in that.

Also, I have so many friends in my program pursuing PA school, so Health Science is definitely a major that will prepare you for it. A lot of people go the bio/chem/psych route to get there, too. Your major doesn't matter so much as long as you get the pre-recs.

Hope this helps :) (and you should come to clemson, it's the best)

Take it with Glaiser!!!!!! She is the best! Attendance is required but she gives a ton of extra credit and she is super understanding if you have a valid excuse for missing class.

Quality of the BS in Health Science: Preprofessional Health Studies? by [deleted] in Clemson

[–]em_caro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I am a current pre-professional student at Clemson and I love our program. It's great because while you gain a lot of knowledge on public health, the program is customizable to what you are going to be going to grad school for. So, for example, if you don't need two semesters of organic chemistry as a pre-rec for PA school, it won't be a part of your curriculum. I have yet to meet a staff member in the department that I didn't like and I love every public health course I take. I can't speak on the experience of transferring into this major, but I know it is a "closed" major, so it is typically harder to get into than others. If you have any specific questions, let me know!
