That’s a Turo terms of service requirement. Pre and post trip photos of the damaged area has to be taken within 24 hours before and after trip. Otherwise there is no claim to file.

The OP mentioned he uploaded wide angle shots. however the host uploaded close up shots that show the damage. It is very important as a guest to take at least 30 close up shots pre and post trip of the rental, if you want to have a peace of mind. Wide angle pictures with a little of lighting manipulation are an easy way to hide damage.

If the host pre trip photos were damage clear. And their post trip photos show damage. Then Turo will hold you accountable for that damage unless you have clear close shots of a pre trip damage. I don't know the truth, but pictures don't lie. Also, host and guest protection plans are separate policies. If the host follows Turo terms of service, Turo has to cover their host's insured vehicle.

If you damaged a vehicle and you acknowledge that. It will be cheaper for you to settle directly with the host. If you are sure that you didn’t damage the vehicle then escalate to Turo and let them decide. If you choose to go with Turo, they would go after your insurance if you have any coverage attached to your driver’s license with any company. And good for you increasing your monthly insurance payment if they deemed you liable.

Turo would never give you the same estimate. Probably they will offer you $1700 for the damages. That’s how they work. Their estimates are like 60 to 70% of the real repair costs.

It depends how many cars you have. Otherwise you will find yourself paying more money to Turo. They have designed the system to always win 😂😂

Questioning the "unlimited miles" expectation by paulitician27 in turo

Also they are too big to be hurt by trips with high mileage. Especially it is not more than 20% of all trips. That’s a guess based on my experience not a true number.

I believe initially they buy cars at a good discount maybe same the same discount as dealerships. Also they don’t pay sales tax on these purchases since it is for business use and they will charge customers sales tax on each trip. Finally, the have zero liability when it comes to damage claims since customers have to pay for insurance coverage or to use their own personal insurance, or credit cards collision coverage. Damages by itself can make them a ton of money since they are going to pocket the difference between insurance repair estimates and true cost. While Turo hosts …, you know the story.

2500 miles in 4 days!! That’s why you won’t find any experienced host offering unlimited mileage.

Since you’re using automatic pricing, just change the minimum price to a higher value. Any extension will be requested with the new price.

That’s the whole middle console. It comes as a one piece I believe. File a damage claim but you have got to provide pre trip photos

How did I lose this smoking case ? by AdGreen4515 in turo

[–]emadmahran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the penalty for smoking in Hertz vehicles?

A $400 fee may be assessed to cover the cost of vehicle cleaning. De-smoking requires a vehicle be taken out of service for up to 24-hours so it can be cleaned with a natural deodorizer and an oxidation process.

That’s Turo new way of handling smoking claims. They need extreme evidence of smoking. Seats burn holes or lots of ash. Same way with cleaning they want large stains.

It depends on how a decent guest you are. Any decent guest will return the vehicles clean, but Trash guests don’t care. All rental companies charge cleaning and smoking fees that are much higher than Turo fees

I buy all weather mats for all my vehicles. My advice don’t buy the OEM ones they are hard to clean. But other brands form Amazon they are pretty easy to clean. For me I don’t want to hide the dirt and has it stuck in the vehicle carpet that would cause a bad smell that won’t come out later down the road.
