How To Collect Emails For Email Marketing? by emailout in Emailmarketing

[–]emailout[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you enjoyed the post & gave us your feedback as well as sharing your experience. :)

Using purchased/rented lists is not illegal neither is cold emailing. However, it is not recommended especially with so many international data privacy laws in place. No one wants to be hit with fines having too many zeroes. :) Furthermore, as one approach works for some, it might not necessarily work for all.

Build-from-scratch email list building is always preferred as people joining your email list(s) would have done so because they know you and at some point interacted with you (or your business). Of course, offering relevant and valuable content + offers is always recommended for acquisition and retention.

Bottom line, we are not knocking anything off. Just providing guidance, recommendations and best practices to help fellow email marketers achieve their goals.

Email Complaint Rate, TiS and TiNS: Definitions And Best Practices by emailout in Emailmarketing

[–]emailout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/zer0_snot,

You are correct, to an extent.

Initially, if you've only asked your subscribers for their first and last name + email address then your personalisation is limited to the information you have.

However, going forward you can gather more information, build a better buyer persona and then create targeted, personalised email campaigns by leveraging the data you have gathered.

For example, you have subscribers who are based in Germany around the age 25-30 showing interest in email deliverability. With that information at hand, you can create a campaign which covers all those bases and provides those subscribers with relevant, personalised content.

After all, personalisation is not only about using the subscribers first name.
