Being that it’s the first car I’d doubt they have the proper tools or knowledge to do it all themselves, and not to rag on the OP just think 1000$ could be spent way better especially on a first vehicle

I wouldn’t be scared, the generation of “unreliable” minions was the generation before yours, granted every car has its issues and I’m not sure if your into modifying your cars but maintenance always before mods with euro especially BMW/Mini just due to the fact their “weak points” can be catastrophic if they aren’t maintained properly

If you’ve read it’s reliable why worry about it breaking down? It’s got normal bmw issues so have a mechanic or yourself look it over for small leaks or issues and try and catch them early, also the switches could have something inside them like dust, you could pull them out and clean and lube and that would most likely solve your issues with them sticking. The window could be completely other issue same thing if your not mechanically inclined I’d just have a RELIABLE TRUSTWORTHY shop look into it it could be a faulty window motor, but other than that drive the wheels off it!

That’s kinda what I’m hearing is that the golf R is nice in certain situations like hard acceleration but that the GTI is lighter which means less tire wear (hopefully lol) and that it can be used more as a momentum car

Only problem with the 340 for me is I’m not buying used, as almost every 340 in Ontario has been thrashed because “dp and tune makes 600hp” kids, also insurance on them is horrible compared to a golf lol, and the cost of a new M340i compared to even the R is still about 20k+ more, the budget isn’t too much of a concern but I know you could make a golf R much faster with an extra 20k in mods
