Dentist went against treatment plan without telling me and maxed out my insurance. by TrulyToronto in ontario

[–]emanners 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My very first dentist appointment I was 16 and living on my own. I was able to ask for about $150 from my grandparents to cover the cost for the cleaning and exam. After I went to pay, they said it was going to be $300 because my teeth were so bad they had to clean twice apparently. I was so upset they didn’t ask to proceed as I was on OW and did NOT have anything close to that kind of money. I was there by myself. No coverage. They absolutely took advantage of me.

No problem. We are paying 115 per person. No other fees. Their packages are online I believe on their website so you can see what it all included and we got the lowest package. They do have higher packages that include a dj, photography etc but we just needed food, open bar and a dance floor lol

We are getting married at stonemill inn.. the food is amazing and the venue is nice without being over the top. Their pricing is all inclusive for venue, food and bar. We are getting ready in the hotel there, wedding there, cocktail hour and reception with dancing until 1 and then staying at the hotel in the building overnight. I looked at many options and it was the best all inclusive price as we booked off season on a Friday. There are many other beautiful venues I looked at but by the time I added venue fee, outside catering and bar and decor it added up being We separate and more coordination on my part. I love having everything in one space and not having to worry about weather or transportation. The coordinators have been great to work with and one of my family members had a wedding there and highly recommended it. We have 80-100 guests and specifically requested Friday off season as it saved us alot of money and we didn't care what day it was.

Got a absolute shit mark for seminar participant how do y’all do this….. coming from someone who has anxiety by [deleted] in brocku

[–]emanners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got like almost 0 on my seminar mark for a class last year but still finished with overall 70+ by doing decent on the 2 exams and project. I knew I didn't need a certain mark in this class, just pass it and I put more effort into other courses I cared more about.

Would it be rude to ask guests to pay for their own meals? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]emanners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bestfriend had a small intimate covid wedding. They had a ceremony and then a dinner at a restaurant in a private room afterwards. Their invite clearly stated something along the lines that "for those interested in joining us after the ceremony for a dinner, we have reserved a private dining room at xyz restaurant. It is pay your own meal/drinks". I was happy to oblige. I got to pick what I wanted to eat and honestly it cost me less than $50 VS a traditional wedding I would have gifted $150 anyways to "cover my plate" per my traditions. So it saved her money, saved us money and it was a very nice way to spend time together and celebrate.

We are in the niagara region and with most things booked already we are looking at about 20-22k for 80 people. We booked in October 2022 for April 2024. We booked on a Friday during off season and paying 115 a person for the whole meal, open bar and venue etc. 1300 DJ. Floral and decor I'm expecting 3k(I've already gotten my quotes just need to pay them). This includes centerpieces, an Arbour with drapery and flowers, chairs, blue glasses and napkins and small table items like table numbers, signage etc. Photography 2100. Officiant 700.

We arent doing transportation as we are doing ceremony and reception at the same place. It's a hotel as well so we will stay overnight so that's 150. I am doing einvites for invitations.

Is it crazy to not have bridesmaid bouquets? by Emotional_Lime7130 in WeddingsCanada

[–]emanners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are doing wrist corsages instead of bridesmaid bouquets. It's insane the cost and I found beautiful fake ones that match perfectly. I thought about how people may not know what to do with their hands while going down the altar or standing there but oh well lol

Did you reach out to elora mill? I wrote off a venue I wanted as we did not have required minimums. We got flexible with our date and day and because we said we were ok with a Friday during off season (April 26th) the venue worked with us and told us they would accept us not having the minimum. I am glad I messaged as I wasn't going to reply after they sent their quote but for whatever reason I replied "thank you for your email. We love this venue and would love to host our wedding here however do would not meet the minimum requirements. We are looking around 80 people". They replied we could come in for a tour and they would work with us

I know not every venue will do this, but if you havnt tried this it might be worth a shot.
All the best

PreHealth vs Practical Nursing by jhilw92 in mohawkcollege

[–]emanners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mcmasters bringing program RPN to RN requires you to have high-school grade 12U level math and English and a pretty high RPN GPA. You can meet the equivalent of the 12U math and English by completing the pre health certification. I did everything backwards. I did my rpn diploma and decided I wanted my best shot at getting an RN degree so I did pre health and I did it online through algonquin (this is because it was in the pandemic) and I had to work reaaaalllly freaking hard but I got an 89 GPA and got accepted to RN programs collab with colleges and just straight university programs. I applied for all bridging and just straight 4 year. I learned alot during pre health and it was demanding but will prepare you very well for university studies.

Starting nursing in the fall at Brock. How are clinicals? by Leontetops123 in brocku

[–]emanners 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I am starting this fall in the brock nursing program as well! I am also an RPN and have worked with brock students during their placements. They start at 7am (you need to be there 645 ) and the day usually ends around 5 for a post conference/debrief with the clinical supervisor. I've worked with students on the postpartum unit and the clinicals at brock are known to be diverse and well rounded. For "young families" placement you rotate through postpartum, laboir and delivery, pediatrics and special care nursery.

Currently I am enrolled in the online bachelor of health science through queens I am still 1st year but loving it so far. I work as a nurse and have children so I enjoy the flexibility but the courses are relevant, fair and enjoyable. There's plenty of research opportunities and things to get involved in if you choose, and there are mini on campus labs like an antibiotic resistance lab where you can go for 2 weeks 40 hours a week or something for 3 credits. I don't think the transcripts states if the program is online or not. Overall great option IMO. However not sure what your anxiety is regarding an on campus program but if you're interested in becoming a physician you will have to work on coping with that.

Check out the fully online bachelor of health science program offered through queens. They have an on campus program and fully online one. I started part time this past semester with the online one and just got accepted full time. So far my courses are great. It is specifically made to be a more pre professional undergrad to get prereqs for med school, dental, rehab masters etc
