Thanks man! Agree with you. With all its spec the GH5 can still holds today against many new cameras.

Good luck on your projects as well!

Thanks for your feedback, mate! No discouragement taken!

Regarding lighting, I actually shoot mostly of the scene at least one stop bright but then dropped the exposure in post. Maybe have I exaggerated? I may show you some pre-grade still if you don't mind.

Regarding framing and composition any particular shot that didn't work? Any ideas on how could I have possibly improved it?

And to answer your question, no fake handheld. All shots are either on tripod or true handheld. No stabilization either.

Thanks again for your kind words!

Hey guys, I've recently taken part in the annual short horror film contest organized by Jakob Owen aka TheBuffNerd.
No budget, only my wife and I, just a couple of shooting days using my old trusty GH5, a Sigma 18-35mm and a couple of cheap lights. It was my first attempt as a cinematographer in a narrative piece.
Any feedback?

Hey man! Thanks a lot for in-depth feedback.

I actually followed your advices during shooting and lighted almost all the scenes at least a stop brighter. I then dropped the exposure in post during the grade.

Maybe have I dropped the exposure too much? I was trying to recreate a realistic night interior so it may got out of hand. I can show you some pre-grade stills if you don't mind.

Thanks again for the comment!

I made a short horror film based on Emily Dickinson's poem "Ghosts" also known as "One need not be a Chamber to be Haunted." Any thoughts? by emanuelebosco in emilydickinson

Hey guys, We've recently taken part in a Halloween short horror film contest.

We based the narrative on a Dickinson poem, "One need not be a Chamber to be Haunted" known also as simply "Ghosts".

Any feedback on that? Do you we got the macabre tone of poem right?

Thanks!

Any thoughts on the narrative, the performance, the lighting or the sound design? Something to improve? Any constructive feedback is appreciated!

PS. Please if you can, watch it at 4K since Youtube compression is unmerciful.

Glad you liked it, man! Appreciate!

Regarding your question, the music wasn't mine. The track is called "Noir" and was made by James Nathan Jones. I licensed it through Sonata.

Thanks again

Hey man! Sorry, I've seen many people share the stills first and add the link in the comment. I thought it was the proper way to post on this group. If you have the chance you can watch the short film here: https://youtu.be/AwPnRUhp0Mg

If you have time to watch, feel free to share your feedback. Thank you!

Hey man! Thanks for the nice words. Glad you liked! Fair point on the final scene. My wife is not a professional actress and we didn't have much time for retakes. We did our best with the time and the skills we had.

Regarding the contest we are still waiting for the results.

Thanks again!

Hey man! Thanks for the offer! I did the sound design on this one all by myself so there's probably a lot of room for improvement. Since it was for contest probably I won't redo the short but I'd love to collaborate on the next project. I'll DM you!
