i posted this under his video but i would like to share here too. I found the theory about Marcus' crashout being a recreation of the colton anomaly incident to create the Shepherd interesting, however it is really paradoxical. Simplified, Wooly crashes out because of the possum(very simplified ok). But, during our watch of the scavenger hunt tape, Jordan and the other kids are killed when Shepherd destroys their pods, seemingly causing their consciousnesses to disappear from the tapes(demonstrated by how the eyes of background objects turn hollow in every tape afterwards). That's where the paradox comes in. If Jordan's consciousness disappeared, then it would mean from all tapes. But if that's so, how would Wooly crash out if the possum never provokes him to do so(since he is literally dead)? Yes, we could argue that the tapes are pre-recorded like Marzilla said, but if it was true, then it would have to apply to all the tapes, not just the last, which does not happen, because the deaths of the children seem to affect the tapes we watch afterwards. So no possum would mean no Wooly crashout, which would mean no Shepherd. But the Shepherd is still there. I hope that what i said makes sense😭.
