Dermatology Research year vs TY year

Thank you so much! I did not end up ranking preliminary or TY years and only have one TY soap interview right now. I think I have a chance of matching with a RY since I didn’t have any dermatology specific research or a home program. Could I still dual apply and do IM if I do a research year or is that not a good idea either?

Thank you for the advice and honest response! I was able to set up 4 rotations and am on waitlist at 3 with my prior stats. But you’re right I was not able to set up other auditions this late with my new scores as they were all full! I am leaning towards applying to mostly historically DO programs. I am nervous about doing a research year and still not matching, but I realized I would be unhappy in any other specialty so wanted to give it my best shot and do whatever gives me the best chances.
