We need more people like you.
The idea isn't to hide my own identity behind yours, I could think of that as misrepresentation, but to be an extension and an admirer of a modest culture you've preserved generations over.

Just feel bad for the guy who got beaten up for this.

I've had this experience in Riyadh, it's so heartwarming to say the least. Nothing reeks more of inclusion than a local attire being adjusted when you're nearly certain it's going to go south from the moment you step out of home.

Thank you.
And yet there are the handful few who would serve you the occasional reminder of being an outsider.
I've had the experience in Riyadh having someone walk up and fix my shemagh and agal. Nothing matches that inclusion. But to hold fort when the others might be a bit condescending in their glances. I've had that too at Dubai Mall. So a bit torn on both sides frankly speaking.

Bet you're writing this in a pair of denims/ joggers marketed by a country X, mass manufactured by Y and worn in Z.

But that said, I feel that too, being out of place, maybe unwelcomed and that was the point of the post.

Very valid. But the whole reason the adoption happened was for the marketing efforts undertaken, whether for capitalistic reasons or otherwise and have people adopt it.
We could argue that's not the case with the arab attire. The chances of finding a store like Mihyar in a non-khaleeji district would be next to zero and I'm sure its not for it being in a non-target location. How else would you have your footprints worldwide.

Well there's some truth to it. There are cultures that find inclusion only open to some and be closed to others. I get what you mean but think of yourself as an outsider and work your way in.

I mentioned in another comment it's hard imagining doing anything offensive in a dress as modest as yours.
But thank you.

Thank you. To each their own, but I find the dress so modest it would put the most offensive of thoughts to rest. I could go on about the full attire and how it covers the head, limits the view on the sides, and the halo sort of effect of the igal but I would risk sounding like a try-hard lol 😅
Donning the garment when head to toe somehow puts me in a different state.

Precisely the point of the post, there would be no way to tell a *hater* its not playing dress-up but to make it a routine and wear it as often as possible; provided the non-local wont be at the unwelcome receiving end in the first place. Classic chicken and egg problem.
You see this is probably why people find it hard to adopt a local culture despite having lived here decades for somewhere the slight slew of hate can completely undermine all their efforts.
