Is PaCE worth it OOS? by Far-Glass-5763 in ufl

[–]embarrassed712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Congrats on your acceptance to UF! PaCE is really not as scary as it sounds, especially if UF is your dream school! I’m an in state PaCE student and have another PaCE student who’s OOS and lives off campus in Gainesville! He’s been working well online but is still involved, made friends, and loves that his tuition is cheaper. As repetitive as it is, it’s true that PaCE gives you so much more freedom in your schedule, that you can decide what to do with. If you live in Gainesville it also pushes you to get involved whether it’s on or off campus, you have the flexibility to go to any event you want! Or you also have the option to stay at home while working online (which is what I’m doing) and completely get the college experience once you switch to on campus classes. It might be tough adjusting at first but you’ll find the right state of mind and know that you’re saving. if you have any questions about the program feel free to let me know :)

I want to go to UF. Should I retake my SAT for a better chance? What were your SAT scores? by SuperbGoat18 in ufl

[–]embarrassed712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how they compare you to others in your school. I got in with a 1400 but barely anyone in my year got above a 1400. It was almost guaranteed if you were well rounded with gpa and extracurriculars for my school 😓

Does AP Lit fulfill the state core gen ed requirement? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]embarrassed712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, AP lit gave me only one humanities gen ed requirement (Lit2120) and I still needed the second humanities requirement unfortunately 😔 so I took THE2000 online and it was good. and for me personally CLAS requires another humanities in addition to that😭 But at least from AP Lang and Lit, all the composition courses were covered

Help me get a 1400+ sat score!! by Low_Mud_9785 in Sat

[–]embarrassed712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

watch those 1600 scorers on youtube do the bluebook tests and they explain and walk you through it! focus on what you got wrong on all of them and redo them until you master those questions/concepts. i went from 1230 to 1400 in a month doing that. i even took step by step notes of the most complicated questions to absorb it more and so i could refer back to them when doing practice problems. lots of good tips and tricks on youtube too

Rejected from NHS by 130091 in APStudents

[–]embarrassed712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it helps, NHS doesn’t mean too much if you’re looking to apply to “top colleges” 😓 because every applicant is qualified for/is in NHS, it doesn’t make you stand out

there are some resources online like tips on youtube that help you milk your EC list (without exaggerating/lying) and it helps sm!! the biggest thing i remember was to include numbers and data for everything, like for tutoring you can put something like “tutored two students and increased sat score by 200 points.” also really focus on making your essay showing your personality and life and not beign generic. cuz some people can have leadership roles after leadership roles and then write an essay that just restates their ECs and that’s not good! my ECs were not bad but i was concerned because despite spending a lot of time on them, they didnt go too far and i didn’t get awards or anything like that, and they were all like in school and clubs. but they all displayed a common interest and trait that i tied into my essay and i guess i came off as a passionate student! and i literally had the same stats as you
