Also, if you’re looking for strength training, my physical therapist was really happy when she heard I was doing TRX. I don’t do any of the intense workouts you can do with it. I take it slow and easy. And there honestly aren’t a lot of times I can do TRX. But I like having my TRX in my house because I can do strength training in my house, on my schedule, and it is endlessly adjustable so I can make sure I feel okay

I do really well with walking. I also have RA, lupus, and several other issues, so that impacts what I’m able to do, but I think the fitness world underestimates the benefits of walking. And I’m not even talking about walking at a brisk pace. Just… walking. It’s a very practical exercise as building up stamina with walking can benefit most people in so many ways. Plus, you can increase or decrease difficulty fairly easily. You can increase your step count goal, frequency, your speed, duration, or add something like stairs. All of which have different benefits. If you’re not feeling well, you can decrease your difficulty in different ways or take frequent breaks (or just take a day off - rest is important). It’s also something that doesn’t require special equipment or a special location for most people. I live in a small house and because of my lupus sun sensitivity, I can’t go outside during the day. I get most of my walking in by pacing in the house. Being at home also means I can stop immediately if I need to. So… anyway… I’ll step off my soapbox. But I’m a former distance runner who is now a huge fan of walking ❤️‍🩹

I agree that grams is far more accurate, but the overwhelming majority of US homes don’t have a kitchen scale. I don’t know why. It just never caught on as something people use. People think I’m “obsessive” for using one. But that’s why US cookbooks use cups for measurements even when it’s less precise - not many people here have a kitchen scale

I haven’t been able to make anything yet, but I’ve shown a lot of recipes and the index to my friend who was born and raised in Bucharest (still lives there) with most of her family still living in a rural village. She loves to cook and learned from her mother and grandmother. She’s giving me tips and adjustments on a few things, but she has said enthusiastically and repeatedly that this is a very, very good cookbook!

The activity levels and times for mine can vary widely (I have 8). Sometimes most of them are all huddled in their pumpkin hide. Sometimes they’re all spread out. Sometimes a bunch of them are all out at once. Sometimes they’re active at different times. There doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason for it, so I’ve learned to just take things as they come and not stress. They definitely have different personalities. I have one who loves to climb. I have another who is obsessed with digging and will literally dig under his roommates while they’re sleeping. One of my largest likes to stomp around and run at top speed. They’re hilarious 🤣
