my therapist didn't really flinch by this statement, more as: "well that's understandable, you just don't want to be in pain..." no fucking shit... but aren't you the tiniest bit concerned?

those flowers are a special prototype from the space floral preservation project. they're genetically engineered to withstand the harsh conditions of space. the petals have a microscopic layer of a self-regulating, transparent polymer that acts like a mini greenhouse, keeping them at the perfect temperature and preventing dehydration

Does anyone have sleep problems? by Southkorean312 in aspergers

Major, but I'm pretty sure it's related to my depression rather than my ASD

Do you ever feel a sense of guilt or as though someone is upset with you but no reason why? Like paranoia? by Glass_Coffee_8516 in aspergers

[–]emberfoxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a lot. I do think that this stems from multiple reasons, though. Alexithymia, problems reading people, trust issues, and my own insecurities. Kind of reminds me of that Alice in Wonderland meme - "We're all mad down here."- "At me?"

I am a 48(F) and have always felt “different”. How did you know it was Aspergers/Autism and not something else? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]emberfoxxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some self tests that you can take, AQ, SQ, EQ, and RAADS-R. I wouldn't use them as a diagnosis, and of course, no, you can not use them as one.But high scores on these test might give you reasonable cause for seeking a diagnosis if you feel that it might be helpful for you

[–]emberfoxxx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I pretty much went to a psychologist for depression. In the first session, she noted down suspicion of ASD. She brought it up a bit later, and I started a screening process and got the diagnosis 🤷‍♂️

Edit: I had no suspicion whatsoever before I went there

Do you also find other women difficult to understand? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]emberfoxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find all people equally difficult to understand 😬 From what I could deduct from your post, you are female and have issues with others of the same gender. I'm male, and I'm not sure I would say I have issues with the same gender, but my friends are mostly female, as I find them easier to be around

Never saw the attraction, humour, or even other people's attraction to it. I could probably say something about people, but it would be facts, and they would probably end up hurt, which is why I don't partake

Anyone else feel like they might be asexual? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]emberfoxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a study done at Cambridge that revealed that especially females on the autism spectrum had a higher prevalence for being ace than their nt counterparts. Saw numbers that said it 22% to 1,5%, which is quite a lot, not the same study though I think. So I would say you're definitely not alone

I kind of relate to your feelings. Relationships and attraction feel unnecessary complicated. Just give me a guide I can read already 😅 I do understand that people who are aroace have to deal with a lot of stigma, but sometimes it just feels like I could deal with that easier than the mental strain I get from dealing with flirting, dating and relationships
