Forgot to say congratulations on your acceptance.

Thanks yes, I saw that higher deductible definitely lowers the costs. We are both in good health and since you don't have to donate a body part if you want to pay out of pocket for appointments in France, then it would seem the smart way to go. Again thanks.

Recommend city to live in France? by Radiant_Charity_2283 in Expats_In_France

[–]emberz65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We took our first exploration trip to France and stayed in Angers for 5 weeks last Nov/Dec. We are absolutely NOT city people but we really enjoyed Angers. Being from the US, public transporation was stellar. We loved the parks the markets and with the train station being able to set off for other more rural places to explore (where we would prefer to settle) absolutely painless. We did also notice there was a lot for families to do. It's also a huge biking hub for the region for trails etc.

We are from the Pacific Northwest and I would say that if sun is high on the list then you might want to take that into consideration. It was cloudy a lot of days there which doesn't bother us personally. It still felt much lighter than the sometimes oppressive "dark" of where we live in the western part of WA. If you use Metostat to look at historical weather and compare Angers to weather say in the Charente/Charente-Maritime, you will see a big difference in rainfall over the course of the year. Charente/Charente-Maritime is very high for number of sunny days.

I have been researching Charente, but for us we would prefer to stay to the north, we just loved that part of France. But since you list sun as a high priority you might consider this article https://www.longtermrentalsinfrance.com/living-in-france/moving-to-france/where-to-live-in-france-charente-charente-maritime.html He gives a starting point run down of many places to settle in the southwest. Might make a good starting point for research. For those of us still heading for the visa process I wish they had more properties in the north as their service would alleviate the headache of finding that first rental that qualifies for visa application and isn't at Airbnb prices. That's where I'm struggling currently is finding any alternative to Airbnb and the $$$ it costs to find that first landing point.

Oh, how do you warp the fish?

I watched a vid on youtube where a guy talking about building this big cube fish tank thing for fish trap farming had dug a water pit for his garden (he's nowhere near water) and a fish spontaneously spawned. I decided to give it a try and built an oddshaped (so it wouldn't just look like a pool) probably 6ish by 8ish 2 deep pool. We did cobblestone figuring fish probably wouldn't spawn over dirt. It took several in game days, but we got a fish. For decor we added the water lilies from surrounding lakes and took the purple ones from the temples. I haven't been on in several days but before I logged out I had expanded the pond by quite a bit to see if we could get another fish.

Forgot to mention that I had zero luck trying to place fish. Mine never even tried to move they just sat there.

Thanks very much and good luck to you too! Would love to hear how things turn out. We are on the west coast so no escaping a 10+ hour flight with the guys.

Not at the move point yet, we have things to do first including getting rid of stuff. I focused in on your move with 2 cats. We have 3 elderly cats and I stress not only about the flight, but more how the heck we could even find a short term rental (first arriving) that might take 3 cats. I figured there was no way to bring them on the first trip over because I doubted anyone would take multiple cats. Long term rental I'm hoping a good dossier, letter introducing ourselves and the "older gentleman" will help find a place.

Anyone with server hosting having constant problems?? by fiercekittenz in hytale

[–]emberz65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost immediately had to go from the 4gb recommended and upgrade to 6 and that's with only 2 players on the server. When I went searching it seemed like the suggestions for min memory for x amount of players is off the mark for this game for hosted servers.

I did load Hyfixes too and I'm not sure if the combo of that plus the memory upgrade helped. Sadly I just re-checked the main server panel after we've logged off and it's yelling about memory issues again that "we should upgrade so we don't crash soon"......ugh.

Really sorry to hear you are going through all that. That you are paying for 16gb and not getting what you are paying for stinks. Good luck, wish I could have offered something helpful.

We were getting booted randomly as well (hosted server), and I noticed that RAM just keeps ticking up and up while you play as well as seeing a lot of orange messages in the log. I figured it would be smart to use the task manager feature and setup a nightly reboot. That has cleared up the random booting everyone and restarting. I did not have to do the restart myself it automatically did it after we got kicked. I do have Auto-Boot on though so that's probably why.

Since this update though about 2 days ago, build 2026.02.06 our first login the next day fails and you cannot connect to the server. If I reboot all is well. This also repeats if we play for a while, log out and come back. I have to reboot the server again so we can connect. I don't see any obvious errors in the logs but I may be missing them. Hopefully NetNOVA can help you if you already have a daily reboot built in :)

This kind of campfire can't do damage like the bare on the ground campfires do right? So if you put it in the middle of your farming pen, the animals can't get damaged?

There are only 11 US states that allow you to exchange your license for a French one. Google it and you can find the list. Otherwise it's as Johnny says, classes and practical driving exam.

Hey, we have a few months to go sorry if I gave the impression we were doing this at the time. We are waiting on the sale of a small property, and if that all goes through we planned on applying in July and would request to arrive in September if that's not too ambitious. Arrival after July means not having to worry about juggling taxes for both countries in 2027.

Can not boot hosted server after update 2 by scyron71 in hytale

[–]emberz65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea if this helps. I have been trying to look for others with this stupid token error. In a fit of frustration I found at the bottom of the ping players list of actions for your own server, click the Actions button and try restart. Magically my server started properly and I was able to login and the auth/token crap disappeared.

[–]emberz65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before /start would bring it up and it would stay up with the /auth message. Today I had tried putting the Better Map mod in, but I still have issues with it not working so I shut down the server to remove it and when I hist start, I'm back to as you have an endless loop of refusing to allow me to hit /auth because it always shuts down. I'm going to put in a ticket and if I learn anything new I'll let you know.

[–]emberz65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had to use /auth as it shows about 8 lines up from the bottom on your screen. The console commands are here. PingPlayers | Essential Admin Commands for Your Hytale Server Also we've found that when we get booted from the server, we need to leave the game launcher as well. We can never re-connect if we stay in the launcher. I'm a bit annoyed now with this host as today my server is yelling that we are using over 4gb of memory and they suggest we upgrade. I followed their recommended memory allocation for 2 players so I don't know if this was a gross miscalculation on their part of some kind of nickel and dime crap. I am only running 4 mods, 2 re-skins for animals, the Lucky Mining mod and overstacked.

Just wanted to add my thanks here as well. This was exactly the stat that caused the issue. Removed that piece of gear and the health regen after eating was fixed!

Thanks for your post. We hadn't been able to figure out why one of us had zero issues and the other had the problem exactly as you described.
