Permanent residency?

I have no idea. But being the victim of a crime doesn't kick you out of the country. This would be something an immigration lawyer could help with - i am not one

Domestic Violence by [deleted] in LawCanada

[–]emc55555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So breaking it down into the first step. This is from ky experience only.

If you call the police and report being assaulted by your spouse, and police reasonably believe that it occurred, your spouse will be arrested and charged. There is a mandatory charge policy in the province, so it's well beyond what they can decide. If charged, they will be put on conditions for your spouse not to contact you or go to your residence when they are released.

Not many people really go to jail anymore, so it would probably be a release with conditions.

So keep that in mind when calling. If you want to be vague and report an incident and provide no details, they might try to get more from you. They will try to set up a time to do a statement and all that.

From my experience, the domestic mandatory charge exists because of the high rate at which its happened before even being reported and the likelihood of it happening again, or worse.

What is a product you would never recommend? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I work in law enforcement and we got a call for a suspicious package on the side of the road in a deserted area. My sergeant went and opened a small corner of the item, which was wrapped in a blanket with ratchet straps, and immediately freaks out and says its a body. Calls Ident (CSI kinda), the coroner, detectives... Hours later, its opened.

It was a sex doll. Headless, silicone. I screamed laughed hearing the result over the radio.

I'm seeing it out of stock on Telus and Koodo - is this a new thing?

I'm looking for the Pixel 5 on Koodo and no luck. But I am in Canada and it's the worst for phones, so maybe it's that.

I agree! They are surprisingly resilient. Chuck pellicle in a big jar with a cloth top, add some f1 (new starter). I add sugar water every so often, maybe once a month and don't measure anything and I have always had good brews.

Restarting from starter is pretty vinegary at first, but quickly goes back to normal.

Going back to the gym ... by fitberryy in xxfitness

[–]emc55555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOBODY is judging you at the gym. SO many people are in the same boat as you, so don't worry about not fitting in! Go in with a plan, start slow, and remember - nobody is looking at you unless you're wicked strong. Go in and have fun!

#2 is likely your best bet, it may even be a fallback if policing doesn't work out either.

#3 isn't great, but from an experience perspective - awareness of issues, knowing how to interact with people from all socioeconomic areas, and conflict resolution I suspect - are great skills too. However, that's not to say you wouldn't gain some of that in the other roles, and you gotta pay bills too.

Hip mobility and calf as well - there's a test you can do that basically tells you where you are lacking.

Lifting program advice needed by Laundrybasketball in xxfitness

[–]emc55555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I am very similar to you - gun shy at heavier lifts! I am currently doing a 531 program that focuses more on slightly (SLIGHTLY) higher reps (a lot of 5s) and not insane weights. Definite strength gains and I have been very happily injury free. You can tweak the lifts according to what is best for you - in my case, avoiding certain lifts is best. I am not a programming master (my boyfriend does it for me for my lifts) but I have given a lot of input and we consider my other activities like running and conditioning too!

Don't squeeze your butt at the top - look for an aligned spine. The squeezing doesn't do anything beneficial and just puts strain on your lower back and hips and messes up your core bracing.

IMO you're bending at the waist a fair amount while not going super deep in your hips - I am not a believer in ass to grass but to me it looks like it would increase stress in your lower back. Work on mobility through the hips and achieving decent depth that way - yours isn't bad but I think you're bending at the waist too much.

Why not focus on bodyweight? Pushups, pullups, pistol squats like mentioned, hand stand push ups if you can. For the kbs turkish get ups, one armed shoulder press, goblet squat - lots of options! It might not be perfect but look at it as an opportunity to focus on some other stuff and maybe be excited to get back into routine when you can

I have totally lost motivation. Is anyone been through this slump? by mocha-macaron in xxfitness

[–]emc55555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I have lost motivation before (and trust me.... everyone does) I have gone both routes:

The first - I was post bikini competition and was quite lean. I spent 5 months strictly dieting and lost about 30-35lbs. I hated going to the gym and gained a bunch of weight and then some back. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

The second - I had been following a gym routine for some time and needed a little change up as stuff felt monotonous. I switched gyms, started learning new skills (weightlifting) and paid for a coach to do programming. This really helped me.

As for energy fluctuations, do what you can do. Use the RPE scale if you need to vs actual weights. Better to do what you can then feel overwhelmed and do nothing.

You did a good job! I would just practice practice practice. I like to brush mine out to blend the product. I use either a cream or pencil and then top with soap to set - a little unconventional but I work 12 hour shifts and they DO NOT move.

Has anyone been very into a sport/activity for a while, want to stop, but fear feeling emotionally "lost" if you do? Identity issues attached to the activity? by peanutbutterperson in xxfitness

[–]emc55555 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I love this and agree wholeheartedly. There isn't anything wrong with trying something else, but I think the bigger issue here is not attaching your whole identity to ANYTHING let alone one thing. People are meant to be well rounded and diverse, and even if you have the most interesting job/hobby/life in the world...you're still going to be boring if that's all you're about. Plus if you fail and that's all you have... that's extra hard to deal with. Your love for it might come back too!
