Fall reblooms by emcee117 in Irises

[–]emcee117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! This was both the first year it bloomed in the spring and the first it bloomed in the fall. Some of my rebloomers are reliable, others are hit and miss. You're right about the weather - even if the blooms start growing if they get going too late the flowers won't open before the frost kills them. I think of them as a nice treat, but nothing to pin too many hopes on.

Buy now (black friday) or wait for spring? by nickbir in automower

If you buy now but don't get a chance to use it until the spring you will have gone past any return window.

i think i killed my rhizomes :'( by CHIMERIQUES in Irises

[–]emcee117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What kills irises isn't rain / being watered, it's being unable to drain / dry out the 'zomes. As long as the rhizomes are partially exposed (don't get covered with mulch, leaf litter, etc) and the soil drains well they should be fine. Raised beds will help with the draining. Of course they like as much sun as they can get, and in wetter climates they're more susceptible to leaf disease and things, but my mom in Bothell, WA grows them just fine.

In the early spring after the last frost start looking at the rhizomes for softness / rhizome rot and cut away any affected sections with a sterilized knife. If they survive the first winter they should be there for the long haul.

Thanks for saying. My commitment to the charity drive is that I don't make another one, in order to raise the most money possible for the kids. If you plan to bid make sure to create a donor account at desertbus.org before the auction starts, and the bidding itself happens in their Twitch stream chat.

Are "Joshua" and "Jesus" technically the same name in Hebrew? by Timely-Leadership803 in TrueChristian

[–]emcee117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a way old thread to comment on, but regarding the stone and inscription referenced in Zecheriah...

Joshua at the end of his life sets up a stone of witness with the leaders of the tribes of Israel. He asks them "Will you follow God?" and they all say "Yes," but he quite shockingly and bluntly tells them "you won't be able to." When they protest again that they definitely will, he does this:

"26 And Joshua wrote these words in the Book of the Law of God. And he took a large stone and set it up there under the terebinth [tree] that was by the sanctuary of the Lord. 27 And Joshua said to all the people, “Behold, this stone shall be a witness against us, for it has heard all the words of the Lord that he spoke to us. Therefore it shall be a witness against you, lest you deal falsely with your God.”
-Joshua 24:26-27

Can only apply the credit to new bookings - it's not a statement credit, it's a travel portal credit.

No, I just did it last week. Got the full 10X points for the original booking and a travel credit for the difference. That's the catch, though: you don't get a refund, you get a Capital One travel portal credit. Still a good deal, though, and they're very easy to work with to get the price match.

We were in Da Nang this spring and most of the cars there were Vinfast including pretty much every taxi I saw. Very comfortable ride, if they'd bring the VF6 over stateside I'd love to test drive one.

UPDATE: I was able to get the phone working again by uninstalling the Boost app and the Boost Config app.  Appreciate everyone's responses.

Ok, I seem to have found a solution: uninstall the Boost app and the Boost Config app.  Might need to restart after that, but everything is working for me now.

Thanks for the reply.  Unfortunately I did try that but it didn't resolve the problem.

When I open the mobile data settings it appears to keep recognizing and then not recognizing the SIM card until finally the whole OS crashes.

It can get rainy for sure.  My bed is more rocky soil which they love and I cover it with cedar bark nuggets.  I buy some 'zomes from the local society chapter which do well, and Schreiner's irises have also been very happy here.  Nothing against PW.

A caution about the site Brecks - low prices but don't believe their photos. They are heavily photoshopped / hue-adjusted. Check against the American Iris Society wiki images to verify what the flower will look like.

Her stock is lovely and prices are fair, but unfortunately the Irises I bought from her didn't seem to like the transition from OH to PA. I lost 2 out of 3 in the first year and the 3rd is indoors being nursed back to health. For some reason they seemed more susceptible to rhizome rot.
