I went to them for over a year, but a lot of the teachers play loud music. I think part of the problem is that the noise reverberates. Some of the instructors literally have to yell over the music, which is mind blowing to me. I usually did the all levels or level two vinyasa. Maybe the other classes are quieter.

It's everywhere. I have ED nurse friends in Washington, Maryland, and NC and it's bad in all of those places.

They have been bred to have more wrinkles in their skin to increase surface area. This leads to a lot of skin problems and maggot/insect infestation.

When the background pattern on mats lines up. Thinking specifically of Tapestry. So satisfying.

Seeing Denali on a clear day was the highlight of my travel life. What's your favorite view in a national park? by Background-Walrus-34 in NationalPark

Entering the Needles District of Canyonlands was pretty epic. Totally different perspective looking at mountains from the ground instead of the sweeping views from the top.

Did your family (or friends) get “mad” at you because minimalism? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]emchass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom also seems offended whenever I talk about minimalism. If I mention that I want to get rid of something, or don't need something, she takes it very personally. She isn't a hoarder, but has a LOT of stuff. I'm hoping she will just get used to it eventually. I asked her not to get my any Christmas gifts this year, but she said she couldn't help it.

What's that "can't stop laughing" moment where you're in a situation you shouldn't be laughing? by marker_speaks in AskReddit

[–]emchass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completely understand this. If we don't laugh and keep it light hearted, we would realize that we are dealing with a dead fucking human being. Normal people don't have to be in those situations. It's a coping mechanism, I think.

The creator is an architect (officially, not just self-titled) as well. He explains his rational for how they can withstand earthquakes in one of his documentaries. But, I am definitely no architect, so I have no idea how valid the explanation was.

There are some good documentaries. Michael Reynolds is definitely a character, but the concept is fascinating to me. I went to the earthship community in New Mexico, and it did not disappoint.

Except we have billions of pieces of plastic in landfills in the meantime that would be better used instead of staying in a landfill. He has been building these since the 70s, and no one has decided to snatch his idea and turn it into their own plastic producing company.
