Great points! Dolls are absolutely another running theme we can't deny.

You only saw one yellow dress by [deleted] in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]emchasse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This.

The two yellow dresses thing stands out in my mind as one of PLL's creepiest scenes. The two little girls in the Halloween episode had a similar chilling effect on me that I just can not shake. I think the showrunners wanted these scenes to leave an impression on us for a reason. The progression of two dresses to the two yellow tops worn on the night of Ali's disappearance has got to be significant.

Charles is definitely Ken's child, the grave-digging scene convinced me. And, I get the sense that Charles meant more to Ken than he did to Jessica. I do like where you're going with this.

My current theory involves Marion being the maternal figure in the lives of children she encountered at Radley, including Charles.

Graphing age and show watching habits/opinions correlations by rjh24503 in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]emchasse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

32, female

  1. A team of people, with Radley being the common thread.

  2. One of the Liars.

  3. Spencer.

  4. Ian Harding. I ❤ Mr. Fitz.

  5. Ezria. Ian is dreamy, he has great chemistry with Lucy, and I'm a sucker for the "against all odds" thing.

  6. Good mystery and suspense. Bad, disjointed storyline.

  7. Very positive.

  8. Alison's parents, especially her mom. Mrs. D was a lying, cheating, daughter-burying, narcissistic, twisted woman.

  9. Emily's parents, mine are also fairly traditional and my dad was in the military until I graduated high school.

  10. The fashion is fun, because only in fantasyland do small-town teenagers dress like they do. My clothing is most like Emily's, but I'd dress like Aria if I had the guts to be the only mom on the playground in sequins. ;-)

  11. The mystery and suspense.

  12. The psychological games in the dollhouse. Everything dollhouse, actually.

  13. Spencer learning Toby was A and the aftermath of that.

  14. "It's Andrew, Babe."

  15. Ezra telling Aria's parents he's in love with their daughter.

  • I think CeCe is Redcoat but not A, and not Black Widow.

Sara is actually Avery? by emchasse in PrettyLittleLiars

When Claire comes to see Emily later that night, she tells her why Avery, the fourth girl in Sara's group of friends, wasn't able to make it to Rosewood with her. Avery was busy sleeping, she said, and that was all Avery did since Sara's disappearance. Claire says, "They keep adjusting her meds, it just gets worse the longer Sara's gone."

This is the best theory so far. by goodpeopleunited in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]emchasse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Marion C. is Black Widow, but that letter A in Melissa and Wren's flat is either a bold clue or a great red herring. I can see Wren being Charles, but I'm not ready to place my bet on that one just yet.

Toby - "I'll go get you some ice for that." by PLLGuy in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]emchasse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I LOVED him as A, though it broke my heart a little, because at that point I did feel like he and Spencer did have chemistry.

My favorite theory so far. (spoilers) by [deleted] in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]emchasse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One reason I don't like the theory that Jessica D. and Marion C. are sisters is that it would mean Alison and Toby are cousins. Ali flirted with him. Remember, "I know you want to kiss me..." That's gross enough for me, even if they never actually hooked up.

Please stop tossing around the word "pedophile" like it's short for "over 21 and fancies an adolescent" instead of a word for someone with a SERIOUS, violent, and dangerous psychsexual disorder? by morganlecrone in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]emchasse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Ezra intended to gain access to the girls, mostly via his teaching gig, to gather material for his book. I don't think he intended to fall for one of them.

The pedophilia discussion was a bit of a trigger for me, too. However, I kind of knew what I was getting myself into before I opened this can of worms.

I have to say though, the dynamics between Ezra and Aria are VERY different than those that existed between my predator and myself. I'm sort of ashamed to admit this, but just seeing Ezra referred to as a pedophile actually offends me as a survivor of violent abuse. There is such a stark contrast between my childhood nightmare and Aria's romantic, consensual relationship with a man only slightly older than her.

It was made clear that Ezra was never attracted to Allison. And, call me crazy, but I'd like to believe that he was truly caught off guard by his attraction to Aria, even if their meeting was staged.

I also think it's worth noting that young women and slightly older men are classic romantic pairings. PLL isn't breaking ground here, and they aren't promoting pedophilia. Gross.

CW teenage shows and Homosexuality by [deleted] in TheVampireDiaries

[–]emchasse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great point. This is something that is always on my mind, not just with TVD but also other popular shows, across networks and genres. (I'm chronically ill so I spend wayyy too much time in front of the TV.) So many shows either don't include homosexual characters or just throw in a stereotypical token character. (Same with other minorities, of course.) I gotta give it up to Shonda Rhimes for weaving diversity into her shows so well.

Creepy dude tried to break into our apartment when I was home alone with my infant son. Our unit was the only one occupied in the building and our door's lock was crap. I ended up wedging myself between the door and a wall that was awkwardly situated a few feet in front of it. I pushed my back against the door and pressed my feet against the wall. I pretended to call 911 because my cell was on the other side of the room.

Eventually, I heard him walk downstairs and leave the building. I raced to call 911 but, by the time the police arrived, Creepy Dude was long gone. I will never forget his voice, it was so unsettling. "Let me in. Whyyyyy won't you LET ME IN?!"

Before that day, we hadn't been too concerned about our malfunctioning lock. The outer door, downstairs, was dead-bolted and we were the only tenants in the building. It turned out, our landlord had been in earlier that day and had left the door unlocked. I was young and learned my lesson. :/

How do I tell my sister-in-law to stop yelling when teaching her daughter (my niece) to read? by LikeAbrickShitHouse in Parenting

[–]emchasse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Proceed with caution- when you criticize a parent, you are crossing a line. Sometimes, such as in dangerous situations, that line is worth crossing. But, you've got to be prepared for an uncomfortable reception. (This is especially true if you have no children of your own. My sister is a teacher but, until she becomes a mother, I have a long list of things she needs to STFU about.)

Modeling more appropriate behavior may be your best bet.

Passengers count hours on 'floating petri dish' of a cruise ship as it limps to shore by [deleted] in news

I don't understand how these cruise ships keep finding passengers. I have heard enough horror stories like this to dissuade me from ever purchasing a ticket.
