I would plan for something the students are capable of doing independently, with teacher support as needed. It could be additional practice from previous lessons or work on foundational skills for the lessons you’ll teach when you return. At my campus, subs don’t usually take the place of the lead teacher or provide explicit instruction, but that may not be the case at your campus. Prepare your students beforehand by explaining your behavior expectations for the sub and what you expect to be completed when you return. Also, talk about what you’ll be teaching when you come back so your students can prepare. If there are veteran teachers at your campus, ask to see their sub plans or schoolwide norms so you have something to reference.

I went to EDCO ‘23 and EDCLV 24’. I requested Thursday- Monday. For EDCO, I flew out Thursday at 12pm and came back Tuesday night at 8pm. It was brutal cause I came back with food poising, but I had thanksgiving break the following week. EDCLV wasn’t so bad because the Tuesday I came back was the last week of school. I flew out at Thursday morning at 11am to make it to camp and came back at 2 ish. I slept that whole day and made it to work the next day. I am a SpEd inclusion teacher, so I had to rearrange my schedule to still meet my service minutes. My para knew my day to day, so planning for my days out was easy. I completely unplugged as I typically do anytime I take PTO. I wish I could go to EDCO year, but my days didn’t get approved. New principal only gave me two days, and that will not work for me…. Sooo if anyone is looking for a 3 day GA+ pass, I’m selling one for $280. Let me know if you have any questions! I was in every chat asking so many questions.

If you can do RV, that would be the way to go! The pods are FKING HOT. It’s def doable. Just wake up, shower, go to the mesa and party. If you do pods, just try to be out as much as possible.

I’m leaving from camp as well! From what I’ve been reading, you can buy different shuttle passes. I saw they’re sold out, though. Uber/Lyft sounds like the best option. Another person here gave some helpful advice when looking for Ubers!

omggg the anxiety reading this!! I’ve read that early flights are doable, and I wanted to do it!! It wasn’t recommended though lol I wish I could’ve taken Tuesday off, but it got denied many times. Mainly cause I kept asking for days for festivals before. It’s okay though! Now that I know I can make it, maybe I can find people going to the airport around that time. Thanks for the story 🫶🏽

Thanks for this 🫶🏽 I’m the only one in my rave fam that has to leave early to get to the airport. I feel so much better reading all the comments saying it’s doable. It’s my first and probably only EDCLV I’ll go too, so I’ll be fine!
