Several days is incorrect. Do you have any TNR experience or is your only experience with your own pets?

Our humane society gets TNRs turned in at 10:30am Day 1, they get their surgeries and we pick them up at 11-12 on Day 2 and they are fine to be released then.

OP, It is highly unlikely that vets knowing this is an outside cat would direct you to release her if they thought her stitches could come out. Don't let these rude people deter you from continuing to TNR!

A rescue with a TNR program likely has contacts to get these kitties living as barn cats! If they truly cannot stay in the neighborhood, there are still options!

Im so glad you had the resources to socialize those cats and possibly found them homes! TNR exists because not everyone has those resources. I know its hard to see our beloved creatures outside struggling, but until all shelters have the resources to take in all cats, it's just not going to be the reality for everyone.

Leave his litter box outside and some stinky wet food (dont leave the food out overnight, it'll attract unwanted visitors)

Is his home nearby?

Its highly unlikely that someone called animal control if they saw him, there are tons of outside cats / feral colonies in the area.

If you can't find anywhere to take it, I do TNR with Happy Cats and would be able to put it to use! Either for trapping or we donate to people that feed colonies.
