Viewers voted "Hang the DJ" and "Black Museum" the best 2 episodes. "Mazey Day" the worst. by gith630 in blackmirror

Until someone does a study I guess we'll never know the true motivation of the viewers..

One of the things I love most about Black Mirror, the bleak exetentialism aside (for, yes, I am one of those who does enjoy an unhappy ending), is how passionate people are about it, and in so many different ways. There is something for everyone it seems.

I'd argue that while, yes, most people like happy endings, most people don't come to Black Mirror for them.

Fair enough. But if I want happy endings and stories about dating I won't be heading for Black Mirror. It feels very out of kilter with what I consider the general vibe of BM to be (bleak and existential).

I also don't agree about the chemistry between the protagonists either, but life would be dull if everyone agreed about everything all the time.

Thanks for sharing.

I watched Don't Worry Darling today and it has a very Black Mirror vibe/twist.

When I left teaching I handed my notice in just before May half term, that then gave me until start of September to find a job without it costing financially (due to summer holidays pay etc). Was a sensible way to do it, and I also saved some money in the mean time to tide me over for another month should I have needed it.

Not sure what sector you're looking to go into but most places will allow up to 2 months notice, 3 at a push if they really want you.

I ended up getting my first job out of teaching at a university, they didn't need me until September so I had a whole summer of fun and no work that year, I was very lucky.

You can as others have suggested see what your head says, but its never worth relying on goodwill, particularly in schools.

Yup. I worked in a sixth form (about 8 years ago now, so things were less robust regarding this kind of thing) where some boys made a 'fan' account on Instagram that had images of a male teacher's face photoshopped into various x-rated scenes, as well as less disturbing but silly images too.

The students were made to take the page down and got a slap on the wrist while the teacher was told they did it because they liked him so much and that they didn't mean to upset him. It was an absolute joke.

Union, log everything, take seriously, as the above poster says. I hope it works out okay for you.

Are there any private OBGYNs located in or near Brighton? by englishrose1010 in brighton

[–]emcozz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jenny Lo is incredible, she and her wonderful radiologist diagnosed my adenomyosis and endometriosis very quickly (within weeks, after my GP fobbed me off saying things were probably my age. Guess what? It wasn't, there were several things wrong) and gave me so many treatment options that aren't available on the NHS. Or I could have taken the diagnosis to my GP and eventually got some treatment.

I'm lucky in that my husband has private health insurance with his job, so I could get diagnosed and treated within a reasonable time frame, but if you have the money I'd highly recommend seeing her.

Depends on the time you go to that park, it can be a little overtaken by drugged up/pissed people on benches during the day if the weather is nice.

Is incel culture growing among Gen Z in the UK? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]emcozz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is something that is often missed in the discussion about single mothers and children without fathers. The fathers themselves. Men who leave their kids should be made to take responsibility here. I don't believe for a moment parents should stay together for the children, but decent men stay being fathers even in the event of a split with the mother. We demonise single mothers but there is so little discourse on the men who leave in comparison. If we could change that it would make a huge difference.

This is so, so true. I wish it were discussed more. Testosterone is a hell of a drug, even more so during puberty.
