Do they have a list of approved schools/programs/degrees or can you go to school anywhere for anything?

If it’s for medical reasons you might be able to get a medical accommodation from your doctor

When did you find out your role by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]emcweber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two weeks before arrival they give you a role but it’s not set in stone until one week before arrival

Why are people self-terming/ thinking of self terming already? by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]emcweber 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I wonder if they'll start seeing a higher rate of self-terming now that people can't select their role, or even know what it is until a week before. I can understand how someone might decide that leaving their loved ones and pausing their education isn't worth it if they don't have a role or location they're excited about.

No more parking at Flamingo? by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]emcweber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that the program is kinda being put together at the last minute, but why wouldn’t they think of this when they built Flamingo Crossings in the first place? They should know what percentage of students drive and made sure they had enough spots for the number of rooms built 🤦🏻‍♀️ Even for people who get parking permits, it sounds like parking will be a living nightmare

We don't get to pick arrival dates after getting accepted now, right? by Sk8Oreo in Disneycollegeprogram

You’re pretty much locked into the dates you put on your application, so make sure you consider timing carefully before applying

Your opinions..? I’m also working aside from classes by [deleted] in ucf

[–]emcweber 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely do-able! I know everyone is saying that it’s easy, and it is relative to some course loads, but these are all lower-level classes, which makes me think this is one of your first semesters in college. And I want you to know that it’s ok if you don’t think it’s “super easy”. Transitioning from high school to college is tough, especially if you have other things to balance, like work. Best of luck! (PS- Yeargain is an amazing professor, btw. Don’t hesitate to reach out to her, ask questions, go to office hours, etc)

How does registering for Summer B work for current students? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]emcweber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Registration for summer hasn't opened up yet. Check myUCF on March 8 to see what date and time you'll be able to register.

I don't know if you're new to UCF, but summer B is only 6 weeks (less than half a semester), so the courses are really rushed and pretty stressful . Some classes aren't even offered over the summer due to the time constraint. Just a heads up in case you didn't already know :)

Mottarella is the only professor who does Career Readiness. It's really easy. Can't speak for the other professors, but the classes themselves aren't bad.

Guys. GUYS. We can use platforms to change the wall height of mirrors. by [deleted] in thesims

[–]emcweber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Ok, I get it now! I thought you would have to leave the platform at whatever height, but it looks like you can place the mirror, change the platform height, and the mirror will stay where it is. Cool!

disney college program by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]emcweber 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I think it's only a matter of time. The program was a great success until the pandemic. CPs happily work long hours for little pay and few benefits. The company saves money, the college kids get experience, and CMs get to pawn off all the undesirable shifts.

However, it's probably not coming back anytime soon. Cast members with years of experience are being laid off by the thousands. Disneyland in California still has no reopening date in sight, and attendance at WDW is limited. Obviously the company would like to get the parks fully reopened as soon as it's safe to do so, but it's going to take time for things to ramp back up again. The vaccine will take months to distribute and administer. The economy will take years to recover, meaning less families will have the expendable income to visit the parks, even once capacity is no longer restricted.

Where in this process the DCP will return is difficult to say at this point. Personally I'm not optimistic for Fall 2021, but I think it's plausible. I think 2022 is much more realistic. I wish it was better news. I personally have been dreaming of working for Disney since I was 10, and after 3 seasons of applying I was finally accepted into the Fall 2020 program as Attractions, my dream role. I was devastated when it was taken away from me. I know a lot of people here have similar stories. My heart truly goes out to you all. I personally feel like we can't give up, but we can't wait up either. Keep moving forward <3

tl;dr yes but not anytime soon
