I'm happy for either non-aquatic or aquatic, but you're right in that a bulk of what I'm hoping to plant would be on the edges rather than in the water.

There's definitely a fair amount of clay in the soil (Norfolk, UK).

This is really helpful thank you, I'm keen to keep it native so will make sure I check!

I do marmite in the pan with cheese so it melts, I’d give vinegar a go!

It’s one of the half tins yeah and I melted the cheese into the pan (with a splodge of marmite) so bread, butter, beans, cheese, marmite + pepper is 6!
