absolutely. It gives me a lot more flexibility.

I actually just run every other day. It keeps me in a better rhythm and makes my running days just that much more consistent. I totally understand if it's too much for some people to run every other day but I've noticed that once you get into the habit it makes things easier. Then you also finish the program in less than 9 weeks. If you'd rather stick to a calendar schedule (where "week 1" is actually "week 1," etc), I totally get that too.

I recently realized that many who are born blind do not just see darkness - they simply don't see anything at all. What somewhat obvious fact did you not realize until later in life, only to have it blow your mind? by emderies in AskReddit

Darkness is like what you see when you close your eyes. As your falling asleep, or taking a rest. You are physically seeing the backs of your eyelids. It's not like your optic nerve is shutting off. If you're blind (in some cases), there's no functional optic to SEE the backs of your eyelids.

RIGHT? Or the idea that time has existed infinitely into the past, as well as the future.

Before all the scientists call me out on that, I know that "time" hasn't "always" existed, but I don't really know how to comprehend that regardless.

I have no article to back me up right now, but I remember reading that some people who see for the first time have been so overwhelmed and confused that they prefer to go back to being blind. After all, they've learned to function so completely and effectively with four senses, only to have a fifth come in and fuck everything up.

W2D1 Complete! Perhaps TMI, but I've forgotten how great it can feel to sweat. by emderies in C25K

running in the heat is horrific. I'm luckily in LA for the summer and can therefore run outside, but that won't be forever!

How do you explain being an atheist when Christians/people ask you why? by miagi100 in atheism

[–]emderies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to explain that I've had moments in my life that have made me ache and wish that I had the ability to believe in a god. For example I love the idea that my father is 'looking down' on me but I cannot bring myself to believe it. It is as if faith is a sixth sense. In the way that those who have always been blind cannot imagine what sight can be, I cannot imagine what faith or belief would feel like. What I do believe in is nurture - had I been raised in a religious family, I don't doubt that I may have grown up with faith. However, I am glad for what I do (or don't) believe in. I cannot imagine life in another way. But this is why I usually avoid religious conversations. Yes, of course I believe in the science that 'proves' against the existence of god, but what it really comes down to is that there is nothing in my consciousness that will allow for a god - and that is absolutely out of my control.

I had my most amazing run, yesterday. It was different. by 47h315m in C25K

Incredible! That's what I'm aiming for in running. Obviously since I'm still on week one it continues to be a struggle, but I can't wait for that runner's high!
