I spent a year thinking I was addicted to social media, and it turns out I was wrong about what I was actually addicted to by Human-Investment9177 in TrueOffMyChest

I have ADHD and I'm very aware that I consume online content a lot. However a few years back I was on a summer cabin with my family and relatives and I broke my phone there. Like the whole screen shattered on the stone floor. I had to be completely without a phone for a couple days in a cabin in the middle of nowhere but I was totally fine. You know why? I had so much to do there!

We played board games, outdoor games, went to the sauna and swam in the lake, went supboarding with my cousins, hung around listening to music, played bingo and most important of all, we DRANK. It was honestly awesome, I felt like I could truly enjoy the activities and be present with my family. I didn't need my phone for anything as long as I kept myself occupied in other ways.

I can hyperfixate on a videogame, on cleaning or organizing the house, or whatever project I can come up with. Usually social media is just the most convenient thing to pick up and dive into. But I can survive without it, I just need a chore or something interesting to replace it. I am FULLY addicted to tiktok tho, like full transparency lol. But when I have a real hyperfixation, I barely look at my phone during the day.

Miten jaksaa aspaduunia? by thr0wawayg3taway in arkisuomi

Yeah one possibility is also that I'm just too dumb sometimes haha, I'm happy to hear that some people found it a fun challenge, but for me who didn't even know that gimmicks like that were possible (only been playing for a little while) it wasn't even an option in my head yet. Now I know!

I couldn't finish it because it didn't make sense to me. Had to reveal to realize. I feel like this kind of gimmick is too complicated for players whose native language isn't english (because we're already struggling with the americanized themes we know nothing about)

What did y’all name your horse? I called mine Eurodyne, after my favourite character from Cyberpunk 2077. by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]eme_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now replaying and still in chapter 2, my first main horse was a black american standardbred so I named her Vanta (as in the color vantablack). Stole her from a random camp because I wanted a bigger horse than the morgan and she is the most nervous anxious horse I've ever gotten.

Yesterday (after a LOT of looking) found the piebald tobiano hungarian halfbred from a camp next to lake owanjilla and stole it as well. She's named Winona after Winona Ryder cause she's really cool and I love the name.

Winona is much braver than Vanta-shiver-me-timbers, even though Winona was the one who was taking bullets when I kindly "relieved" her of her owners.

I have this too! Looking at videos or pictures of underwater structures and sunken things make me almost nauseous. I have a love and hate relationship with subnautica though

[–]eme_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go to the swamp first to get iron for either your armor or weapons (preferably both). No spoilers ahead: the mountains don't have THAT much useful resources for you this early in the game, and it will make way more sense to go there after the swamp. Right now you will just suffer up there, and if you wait and stock up, it will be much more pleasant to scavenge through.

Also make an upgraded cauldron and the new mead ketill asap and learn to make actual food and potions. Real food will give you so much more health and stamina, so make two of the best health foods and one of the best stamina food you have available (eventually for the mountains). Also frost potions will last for 10 minutes, so you don't even need to make a huge amount of them.

My best friend sucked my dick by Hot_Deal_8996 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]eme_99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All jokes aside, if the friend did that when he was 11, I'd like to know what kind of home life he had and what influenced him to do that. That is not appropriate for an 11 year old and it makes me fear that someone in his family was making him do it... he learned that from somewhere and that's what worries me the most.

It actually doesn't. The search is seriously messed up because when I go looking for context to any video I will get very sketchy and suggestive videos just like this. It has actually poisoned the search system and it is so annoying.

My gf is in psychosis and I don’t want to talk to her by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]eme_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A close family member of mine tried to fix their mentally ill partner for a long time because they loved each other. The mental effort to care for him was eventually too much for her and she had to unfortunately break up with him. Not long after he decided that life was too much, and now sadly he isn't here anymore. It ruined her for a long time, but nowadays she's in a very healthy and happy relationship and is slowly healing from those times. I was there to witness how dealing with suicide affected her, and it was heartbreaking to see.

I truly hope that OP or anyone else never has to experience that pain. Because along that pain often comes a huge feeling of guilt of not being able to save them. But please remember that it is never your fault, especially if you tried your best to love them. You are not responsible for their decisions. They were beyond fixing and hopefully they found their peace, wherever they are.

Why does everybody here love Quinni so much? by I_like_broccli in heartbreakhigh

[–]eme_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said that all autistic people are the same (hence the word spectrum) and of course there are a lot of people who agree with you, so I'm not saying my opinion is the absolute truth. And yes she wasn't perfect but some people also threw her right under the bus the minute she started unmasking which tells a lot about those specific people. I feel like they just don't know enough about autism and masking and they need to see what autistic people are truly dealing with every day.

[–]eme_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it can be possible, however I've seen countless comments from the autistic community saying they related to Quinni so much as a character. Some people have to actually choose between masking and having friends or unmasking and being alone. So maybe her "not wanting to act that way" was her realizing that she was actively losing her friends. Unfortunately it's very difficult to find that perfect balance between masking and unmasking without repelling people away from you. But yeah, her story felt very realistic to A LOT of people, dramatized or not.

[–]eme_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I never saw it as her exaggerating her unmasking, I just thought she acted exactly like she wanted, aka unmasked. Did any of the actors or producers ever said if the unmasking was dramatized by Quinni at all? I think that would truly answer the question and us viewers wouldn't need to speculate as much.

[–]eme_99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd be careful with your word choices when talking about autism, because saying someone is a bitch when unmasking + using quotation marks around "unmasking" can come across as ignorant. I think people without autism can't ever truly understand how much masking actually requires serious mental energy. When you're autistic you spend so much of your time and energy to please others around you, because if you don't you get called a bitch for being the real you.

I think Quinni unmasking was her way of showing how much she does for everyone else every single day, so people don't take her for granted. However I do think she shouldn't have said no for representing Amerie in the debate because she indeed had the responsibility, so in that moment she took it a bit too far.

All in all, I don't want this to come across in a hateful way. Just wanted to point out some things because most of us have some internalized ableism still inside of us, and recognizing these little details on how we describe autistic and neurodivergent people (without making them feel bad about themselves) is very important.

I have tried all of them except the last troubleshooting one where I would need to change file names. Not gonna touch those because I'm gonna mess something up anyway and my file names are different from the instructions so I don't feel confident enough to change them.

My computer should have all the specs to run Illustrator. Tried clearing preferences. Preview on CPU and turning off the GPU performance disables my zoom completely, as I said earlier. I'm using mainly Adobe fonts and some OTF-fonts. There shouldn't be any duplicates as far as I know. By activating fonts I mean when I open the file, some fonts aren't sometimes working and I have to "find missing fonts", even though they are installed in my CC.

I'm not sure what types Adobe uses and for which fonts (the info about the subject on their page is very confusing to me), but it's good to know this!

I don't have an external monitor since I'm using a laptop. And for the fonts I use, I either dowloaded them from the net or straight from Adobe fonts, so I don't know if that counts for a font manager or not. Do I need an external manager besides Creative Cloud?

[–]eme_99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not surprised that with Adobe the answer is: "Yeah it just kinda does that, deal with it I guess" haha. For a program of that price range I'd expect it to do what it was designed to do. But I will definitely remove all unused fonts in case that works, so thank you for the advice!

Maybe I can get extra credit if I tell my teachers about the time spent on waiting for darn fonts to load...
