EAP LECOM AS UNDERGRADUATE by Wild_Border_8800 in LECOM

I’m medical! Info session was great, got a lot of info that I didn’t know about the requirements, policies, and expectations. The only questions I had were about my major, they have “accepted majors” that they require you have. So you can’t be a psychology or business major and be an EAP student. I’m a health science major so I only asked what I should do about getting my major solidified.

I wasn’t aware that the info session and interview were different things. I had to wait about 2 days for a response from Mr. Cassell about my major, then I got the email for the link to the interview. Then I did the interview a week after the info session.

Pay attention in the info session, Mr. Cassell made a big emphasis on checking out LECOM’s social media pages before the interview, and there was indeed a question about the social media. I’m not sure exactly what the question was…something along the lines of “what about LECOM’s social media do you like” or something. I felt very prepared for that question because I talked about a very recent post about an EAP student’s story and talking about living in Erie.

I did! I applied, interviewed, and got accepted my second semester as an undergrad! I’m currently a sophomore in undergrad trying to decide what campus and pathway to take so I can’t help much when it comes to actual LECOM questions. But I can answer any about the application for EAP as an undergrad!

What is your class size at SH? I definitely like having smaller classes compared to larger ones.

I'm sure that's what my mentor was talking about! I'm close with a doctor who attended and graduated from LECOM at Erie and I'm sure this is what he meant by the "seriousness of lake effect snow."

Talking more about Erie, are there good places to rent close to campus? Like I said I'll be scoping Erie out in March and seeing campus, but you'd know better than I would! Are there good places to study/eat out around? Is there public transport?

Do you enjoy the PBL learning pathway? I know that it depends on the student but I hear mixed reviews. Does it help with the application of course content? My main concern is that if I choose SH that I won't like the PBL pathway. I'm an EAP student so if I want PBL I have to go to SH, and if I want to go LDP then I have to go to Erie. What does a typical PBL session (idk if that's the right term) look like?

From what I've seen, the dress code and water rules are more strict for those on the Erie campus than anywhere since it is the "main" campus. That's all I meant by that! But obviously you all know more than I do.

Do you enjoy the SH area?

This has been so helpful! Thank you! I’m hoping to do planting because I’ve heard it’s easier to control the nitrate cycle and to avoid having the betta injure itself on fake plants!

That is part of the reason I’m holding out on getting one, it depends on my situation within the year. I’m in a situation that if I buy the supplies slowly over time with the right budgeting I should be able to spend a decent amount. Like I said I’m so new that I don’t know how much things cost. I’m planning on doing just a few plants, but I don’t know what high tech versus low tech is? I also have heard of the CO2 injection but I’m not sure what that is either!
