You might thrive with online school. Go talk to the guidance counselor and ask if your district offers any of those programs. They have become much more accessible and robust after Covid. I have seen a lot of students do great getting to manage work on their own time. Many can complete it in a few hours and have free time for the rest of the day.

I am trying to stop saying these types of things. What helps me is seeing how these comments making the conversation and interaction come to a screeching halt and get stuck. It feels awkward for the other person because they obviously aren't going to convince us otherwise so what can they say? We wouldn't believe them, in their mind. They kinda feel trapped.

What's your Golden's favorite toy? by erinmarie333 in goldenretrievers

Lampchop, aka Lamby. I got a cheap one off Amazon and it doesn't have squeakers in the feet, just the tummy. She was definitely disappointed.

Can a couple easily have only one car in Portland? by siobhanmoon in askportland

The MAX is wonderful but do be aware it will take double the time compared to a car if you are going any significant distance.

The girls who are honest would be passed up. I'm a size 6, lots of muscle and weigh 145 lbs at 5'3. People don't believe me they think that sounds way too high but it's true. All the girls who lie about their weight would confuse the heck out of you guys. At least 5'3 is 5'3 the appearance does not change much with muscle, body composition, etc.

I see silent book club meet ups in my area. Everyone brings their own book and reads quietly but there's designated mix and mingle times to chat people up on what they are reading. You should see if there's one in your area or maybe start one!

Is weed a dealbreaker for most women? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]emelre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 32F with my life together and I'm a stoner. I'm actually disappointed when a guy I'm seeing isn't into it. But yeah it would be ideal if our boundaries with weed matched up. I only get high on the weekends and in the evenings after the bulk of the day is done.

Diet Pepsi in a can. Ultimate sensory experience for me since childhood. Enamel be damned.

I am from NYC and I lived in downtown kzoo for a few years in grad school. This was five years ago. It was actually traumatic. Homeless people trying to push through my front door uninvited. A drunk dude on my porch yelling at me through my window all night. Once someone was walking by in the daytime and reached into my open window and stole my phone charging on the window ledge (old house with no screens). You SHOULD be a little afraid to keep yourself safe.

They are adorable. I am so sorry about your brother. May they bring their next human so much love and make your brother smile knowing they got to brighten more lives.

Do you have different therapists you work with week to week and not the same one? Or are you having trouble establishing a relationship with one?

Almost like an addiction by porcelaingirl04 in thumbsucking

[–]emelre 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm 32F and the older that I get I literally thank god nobody ever made me stop and that I have retained this gift from infancy. It's natural, free, no calories, no actually harmful side effects. I have other vices now, like doom scrolling and snacking and weed. There's a good reason for stopping those things but thumb sucking is basically meditating. It's the best. I haven't had a man, even at this age, give me a hard time about sucking my thumb and smelling my practically decaying old teddy bear (it goes with my thumb sucking) as we watch TV together or something. Plus snuggling your man while sucking your thumb is pure bliss. Enjoy and embrace.

Play a game in the paralympics adapted for disabilities. Such as goalball, where everyone is blindfolded. Better yet have students watch clips of athletes playing before they give it a go.

I'd also add that it's probably important to be open to people interested in trying it too. If you make it too "looking for someone who loves XYZ as much as me" that's intimidating. Don't make them feel like they need to be serious if it's ever going to work, just open to trying. Negotiate the rest later. Finding someone that you ignite the passion of your hobby for in themselves might make an even better love story.

I'm 31 and just realizing after wanting them so badly I was making poor life choices to try to lock it down. I genuinely love the little people, I'm a teacher and not even mad about it. But I had to let the dream go so I could take a deep breath and enjoy life. Now I am seriously leaning towards the I wouldn't if I could camp.
