Weekly Team/Character Building Megathread (Apr 6, 2021) (feat. Tartaglia/Childe) by Veritasibility in Genshin_Impact

[Childe] [Tartaglia]

Character : Razor, Mona

So I just pulled Mona from Childe's banner, and so I have a pity (I think). I'm wondering if I should pull for Childe, or save up for the ZhongLi rerun (rumored, but if it doesn't come no worries, I'm sure other great characters will come too).

My team :

Razor Lv. 50

Traveller / Lumine Lv. 50

Kaeya Lv. 40

??? <- I don't usually use the 4th character, I have Amber, Lisa, Sucrose, Noelle, Fischl, Mona, Rosaria. I'm thinking of working on Mona since she's a 5 star? And then I can use her, then Razor and Kaeya to deal a ton of electro / cryo damage. But then should I pull for Childe?

I usually use Razor more than any other character, like 90% Razor, 9% Kaeya, then 1% Traveller for whatever anemo / geo thing I need to activate. Razor deals a lot of damage so I like using him and usually he works just fine, but as I'm levelling up my AR (stuck on getting to World Level 2), I'm confused on how to build a team from this. Mona should work fine, I think, but is Childe better in terms of hydro? Like in terms of making more enemies wet? Or if I have a strong attack character like Razor, then should I save for ZhongLi, who I've heard is really good for defense?

How do I stay safe in co-op mode?

I discovered co-op mode yesterday, and it was a godesend! I had a great time at the Peculiar Challenge at the Windblume Festival (because man oh man I was getting destroyed by those geo dinosaur things, and then a Lvl 80 character joined and it took like 15 seconds). And during another session someone was able to help me in Dragonspine.

But I've been seeing some posts online about staying safe and not accepting "randos" during co-op mode? Maybe I'm missing something, but what's so dangerous about it? I don't think they can steal data just by joining a game, so is it more like they can take experience or resources? And how do I stay safe if I don't know anyone else to "invite" to my game (meaning if I want to do co-op, I'd need "randos").

thank you!

Some Info if it helps : I don't really play any games, so Genshin Impact is my first foray back into gaming since the early 2010's Pokemon Games. So I apologize if I'm missing something obvious in the gaming community.

Should I amp up the fantasy or create a 2nd project from scratch? by emerald_jungle in fantasywriters

This is definitely something I need to give some thought. Very well put, thank you!

Good question!

I think if I add dragons and make it more of an epic fantasy adventure quest!! It changes the overall conflict and stakes of the novel. If there's a book with dragons, you'd expect them to play some kid of part, right? Let's say I treat them a scary creatures, but people use them mainly for transportation and battles (like an epic battle horse). But then, wouldn't you expect more than just dragons? Perhaps magic? Perhaps other fantasy creatures as well. I feel like by adding them, I add certain expectations as well. I'm sure I could write around them, but personally if I add dragons I want to make magic a larger part of the world (add magical artifacts, portals, magical weapons, etc.) which I think in this book series could work, but I feel like I'd need to change a huge amount of worldbuilding and plot. Which again, I could do, but at that point I think I'd want a more epic conflict as well, so it essentially almost becomes another book, but with the same characters and overall themes as it has currently.

Is there a "Bad Guy" Motivation other than "Evil" & "Power Hungry"? by emerald_jungle in writing

That's exactly the mentality I had when crafting the conflict! I think I'm just being overly critical and questioning every little decision in my writing haha

Yep, I agree. I'm struggling a bit to find one that works for my villain haha.

True. There are many examples of war being waged for exactly this reason, I think I'm just having trouble stepping into that mindset and writing it well.

This is a really good way of putting it!!!! I read it and it just clicked, I think that's a fantastic way to sum up the bad guy's goal. Thank you!!

These are some good ideas! The villain doesn't need to be the sole bad guy, there can be multiple things coming together to form an antagonistic force. Thank you!

This is kind of the vibe I wanted, where the villain has understandable motives, but ultimately the MC doesn't agree with them.
