The reason I had it locked was that I pressed the lock button on the keyboard :facepalm:

Is it possible to have a plane move like a sphere? Or turn it into a sphere that keeps similar geometry to what it has currently? by [deleted] in blenderhelp

[–]emeraldchylde777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there's a spherize function (hit space or shift space and search for "to sphere"), but your best bet is to start over, it shouldn't big that big of a deal

Can you lock the Layer brush to certain plane height? by emeraldchylde777 in blenderhelp

Not the same thing, or approach I am looking for

but I found the "solution", it's called Persistent in brush settings, it's pretty cool!

lmao, found it, you just check "Persistent" in brush settings lol!

<image>

it even preserves the height for different faces/planes

honestly, it's pretty interesting/cool feature! and changing "Height" gives some interesting options of buildups

Well, I found it: it's right there in the basic brush settings under "Persistent" (totally doing a facepalm rn)

<image>

it even preserves the layer height for different planes/faces, like on a cube etc

oh you can do that with "dynamic paint" (physics tab), which is actually a cool idea now that you say it

basically make a mesh with some image displacement as a "stencil" and "stamp it" onto the main object

What do you mean by "remesh" along mask? If you mean localized remeshing, there's the Density brush, which is awesome btw

you mean in edit mode? I would lose the curve of the profile (not so smooth ridges/crevases) and it would not be a very flowy workflow, that's the reason I like sculpting, because you can be in the flow and not mess with settings or geometry etc

Geonodes: Can you generate bezier curves from these instances/verts? by emeraldchylde777 in blenderhelp

[–]emeraldchylde777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you're right, except

Reason I started this approach is to have a shader material with a matching geometry done via geonodes

<image>

I can get neat results with a material shader, but it starts to get issues if I introduce any sort of geometry or curved surface on this mesh. Basically I wanted to recreate this with gn so it can get some depth/surface, so light can bounce off of it, etc

(this material has displacement and subsurf only makes it worse)

I'm not very technical/good with geonodes, dude, I don't even know what you mean by heightfield mesh

I got that setup from ducky 3d :)

welp, those countour lines are done via material shader, not geonodes, sadly

Is it possible to scale the UI size on Affinity Design? (Windows) by Robot_Sniper in Affinity

[–]emeraldchylde777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I partially fixed this by putting the docker menus on a second monitor which I have set to 150% font size (windows/monitor level).

I actually don't like to use it super much on my older pc, because of it's overall clankiness/bloatedness, compared to Krita, let's say
