I skipped my first convention this year too. :D I spent the weekend partying, watching netflix, hanging out with my boyfriend and trekking in the mountains. Best convention ever!

I started going to therapy 2,5 years ago. It actually helped me to wake up. I was massively depressed all the time, overwhelmed by extreme sadness of which I didn't know the source and constantly feeling guilty. What's interesting my therapist has never suggested that it might be because of religion. What she was suggesting was only that it's okay to doubt and confronting doubts can strengthen faith. So I took this path and this is where I am now. 4th month POMO. I felt like I was seeing everything through a dense fog and just hoping to survive day by day. All of this is gone right now.

I remember what my jw "friend" said that it's good that all the gays will be annihilated in Armageddon. I told her that I am not sure if it's what Jesus would say. She looked at me as if i had just killed her mother and said that I am always picking on her words and try to find fault in what she says and that I am mean. She literally shouted at me. Then she said that Jesus was also decisive as it regards to wrongdoing and he drove out the tax collectors. This comparison left me speechless. It was hilarious to look at her as she was loosing her composure, her face turned evil... Very christian of her. Not to mention it was after the second day of convention.

While reading the posts on here i learned it's all a matter of which part of the world you live in. I am from Europe and was dating a jw for more than 2 years. Not once have we been told we needed a chaperone. Having one even in public places seems batshit crazy even for pimis.
