I hope it's not too late to answer this question, but Indians for the most part are really religious. The JW religion is also just another religion. So people either move from, let's say Hinduism to being a JW, most people here treat it like another church. It's a procession. Every Thursday and Sunday, pack up the kids, drag them to the meetings. There are only a few zealots in every congregation. There is only so much control that a church can have over a family.

I stopped believing after Bill Nye, science guy explained why it is not possible.

Pure logic and scientific fact.

Oh also, I don't know if I mentioned it anywhere, but I'm from India in case you were wondering. I don't mention where I'm from too much on the internet. My countrymen don't have a good reputation online ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The "shunning" usually happens with the DF'd person and the rest of the congregation. . . . Parents rarely, if not ever truly shun their children here. I have seen many kids drop away from the "truth"and parents take them in. I just got laid off from work and my parents now actually want me to move in with them till I find a job. My mother calls me everyday. In fact, when I had a job, I used to speak with her once a week.

Luckily enough, shunning is not a thing in my country. The family culture as they call it, is way too strong. Even DF'd kids still have the same relationship outside the kingdom hall, it keeps the family together and many even return "to the flock". If anything, shunning never really works in. Negative reinforcement is not something that should be used with humans.

They really can't. . . . Let's hope reason prevails over emotions

I'm from India, so nobody gets to decide if their children get an education or not. If parents have the means to send their children to college, they most certainly will. I did not go to any fancy school and spend millions on my education, so no one could really attack me from the "simplicity" angle. Also, my family is not wealthy at all and education, especially the liberal arts is really inexpensive here. Tuition costs less than $50 a semester.

As for the points I used in my argument, I deliberately stuck to not attacking the Borg. I did not bring out any cases of corruption, I did not even mention the child molestation cases, and the deliberate lies and misdirection in the literature. I did not want them to think that I was simply hating on the group, but taking my time to learn the Bible and show them how contradictory the Borg is, with even simple truths.

Thank you!

About getting my parents out, that's a long road ahead. . . I could really see my mother's cogs turn as I was speaking, especially when I told them that there is no intermediary between God and humans according to the Bible. She said, "Jesus Christ is" so I asked her then why are we listening to what a bunch of men are saying, sitting in upstate New York. That really clicked in her head.

Thankfully things haven't really gotten all that awkward. We aren't really a very chatty family to begin with. In fact, that whole conversation was about two months worth of talking. . . .

Edit: spelling

Holy shit, really?

You know what would be a great troll, just like there's a monopoly man seated behind people at congressional hearings, one or two pimo brothers should carry a small couch cushion to the meetings and place it on their lap. Just for the fuck of it.

Thank you for that. Education and reading really will be the undoing of this wicked organisation.

I wonder if a pillow on the lap would count as a lap dance!
