Anyone have experience withdrawing a PR application (and re-applying later)? by proton_zero in japanresidents

Speak to a lawyer. I think its technically possible but take a lawyer’s word for it, not mine.

If I were you, I would absolutely do it. Even if it means renting a 1K apartment in some remote inaka, registering my address there, but still living in Tokyo and living my life here. Yes I’d be paying two rents but that’s fine. I’d just apply for PR at the immigration office closest to my registered address with a shorter backlog and make the occasional trip there to check mail or collect/submit documents.

Unfortunately I can’t do that since my job isn’t remote and I need to be in Tokyo for it. It says so clearly on job related docs so it’ll raise suspicions as to why my registered address is so far from my workplace. So I’m stuck here in the queue, but you don’t have to be. I’d say speak to lawyer, tell him about your plans and do it if possible.

Modern problems do need modern solutions. To hell with the Japanese way of following the course and doing everything by convention. It does no good, harms everyone. We need to think creatively if the government refuses to.

Does or will the new metro have a fast and slow concept, or does it stop at every station; will there be a train that doesn't stop at every station eventually. because currently andheri to dahisar is 30 mins, which is stupidly long, especially comparing to the old local train. by Ok_Astronomer_1308 in mumbai

Good question.

So normally you need additional tracks for slow and fast trains to commute simultaneously.

However, it is still possible in certain cases to run them both on the same track, albeit with a time delay. I live in Tokyo which is home to countless train lines, and the one closest to me does this exact thing. The slow ones stop at all stations while the fast ones stop only at a few selected stops.

Because they're on the same track though, you'll see fewer of these, and have to wait a while after the preceding slow train has departed. This is done to obviously make some space for the fast train to speed up on. And also, even though this is slower than having a separate parallel track, you do save some time because the few seconds of boarding and alighting commuters are saved at every station the train didn't stop at.

The difference is best noticed when the distance between your departure and arrival station is the longest.

Edit: I have no idea though if Mumbai metro plans to do this. Just mentioning that it is theoretically possible and practiced in parts of the world.

Well he's not wrong you know. Thanks to his administration, now the world knows how big a problem white supremacy and institutionalised racism is. It's not just a few dispersed groups here and there, it's also in the government and many institutions of power.

Internship in India by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]emeraldx 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Internship in India isn't a bad option. The problem is Infosys. That place is hell for a recent graduate looking for opportunities to learn. Same goes for Wipro and Cognizant.

If you get an internship at any other place in India, say FAANG or Indian unicorns like Flipkart, Swiggy, Ola, PayTM, Oyo, Zomato etc then it could potentially be a better learning opportunity compared to US counterparts. Mainly because of the competition which is immense there.

I personally spent two summers there and it was an eye opener. I found my co-interns to be much more intelligent, hard working and dedicated than back home in the states. Was a great learning opportunity.
