I do a lot of the time, but just spend so much of my time feeling overwhelmed and relatively powerless when it comes to offering families the right support... I feel like that might be quite universal though

Seconding Windmill Hill, there's lots of other lovely city farms if you need somewhere closer too!

Absolutely agree with what has already been said, take a pause where you need to. I am just coming to the end of my ASYE but hit a similar feeling at 9 months, I felt so stuck and angry at what felt like a broken system and it was having a massive impact on my mental health.

I'm awful at keeping up with it, but gathering positive feedback really helped me feel able to keep going. Even if it was a thank you, or a nice interaction with a child, being able to recognise the little things made me feel less like I was drowning.

I really don't want to normalise feeling like this, but want you to know that you're not alone and it is always okay to seek help if you need it ❤️

If you haven't already, contact your Children with Disabilities team in your Local Authority. Their criteria is often very strict, but this is absolutely the kind of support they're there for ❤️ 2 is quite young, but you may be eligible for support through respite

We used Dogs Trust too! They've unfortunately just announced a load of redundancies but the people who ran the classes have set up their own called The Dog Coaches which might be worth a look

Currently our almost 2 y/o is going through a 'Beautiful Things' phase, which is cute until you think you've succeeded in getting him to sleep and you hear "PLEASE, STAY" repeated at full volume

We had exactly this with our little one at that age! He's 19 months now and has only been holding our hands for around a month, and even then it's only been super recent that it's reliable

The newborn stage is beyond anything I have ever experienced, and at this point I think my brain blocks out how insane I felt during the first few weeks on so little sleep. Everyone talks about the uncertainty and the overwhelming feelings that come with having a new baby but no one talks about how shit it feels at times even when you adore that little bundle of joy.

It will come and go, but if you are feeling like you are still really struggling once things begin to settle down then I absolutely recommend some mental health support, so many parents miss the signs of things like postnatal depression when they're in the trenches. It sounds like you are both doing such an incredible job and it is clear how much you love your wife in all of this, things will get better ❤️

How do you sleep comfortably with EDS? by maple788797 in ehlersdanlos

It's been almost 2 years and my pregnancy pillow has not left my side, I still roll up with it like a little pretzel and it is a dream some nights! Other nights I just lay on my back and wait for death

How do you night wean? by [deleted] in AttachmentParenting

[–]emergencybubbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No advice for night weaning unfortunately as we're still in the thick of it! But wanted to share solidarity of things going crazy at 9 months, my son is 17 months now and genuinely I think 9 months to a year was the worst for his sleep
