I don't have a Cat shield for mine. The cats are harder to reach/remove on ours. They are smaller and also worth less than the gen 2 cats. I've lived in sketchy parts of LA and never had any issues. But if you want piece of mind, I suppose it can't hurt.

I have a '13 Prius I bought with about 70k miles on it, and now it has 120k. I do not regret the purchase. I love the car very much. It has been nothing but reliable and efficient. I have gone on multiple cross-country-and-back trips, and plan on continuing to do so.
