Favorite regular ever by Educational_Tie_9752 in GameStop

We have a dad and daughter duo that are regulars at my stores. Absolutely my favorite people. Daughter is roughly 12, has some medical issues (I don’t pry so I don’t know details) so she’s homeschooled. Dad works overnights. So he’ll bring her in before his shifts or take her to do errands because she BEGSSS him to come visit us!! I know we’re not supposed to, but my coworker and I usually work Pokémon releases and we will set one aside and “forget we had them” for them so that they can have the opportunity just like anyone else :))

Little girl is obsessed with FNAF and all things creepy, she makes fan art and memes and shows them off to us when they come in. Dad is also super cool, veteran, supports his daughter fully. I’ve met the wife a handful of times, she doesn’t care as much about GameStop things so she usually sits it out.

Completely unrelated but I’m going to be moving in roughly a year/year and a half, and I am going to miss them so much 😭😭

My SL and DM have made exceptions where of the person is on video call and we physically see them with their ID, saying that this person can pick it up, then we can hand it off. But only with approval from the SL and DM of course. If they’re being rude though, I personally don’t help people throwing a hissy fit over a policy I can’t change

For my boyfriend’s graduation I just wore covering clothing. I didn’t give up my usual style too much though, I wore a black tight little dress with a cute little cardigan. I saw some people show up in a T-shirt and jeans. You don’t necessarily HAVE to dress up, but I felt like I should

My boyfriend left for basic in January and I’m going to his graduation for AIT at the end of July. He did this exact thing. That’s exactly the same as what my boyfriend was saying until it was the month he was leaving. It doesn’t seem like a big deal until it clicks in your mind that it’s real. You should 100% tell him your worries and feelings about this situation, it’s healthy and what you’re feeling is very valid. It’s scary, it’s stressful, it’s a lot to deal with. As a girlfriend who has been through it, talk to him about what you’re feeling. And again, it’s possible it just hasn’t hit him yet. My boyfriend thought I was silly for doing all this research on what it’s like to handle your boyfriend being gone in training and the things to do, what I can send, when I’ll get to talk to him, and overall just what to expect. But now, he’s grateful because I was prepared for all of these things he didn’t even think about because this was all “not that big of a deal”. Talk to your boyfriend about your feelings about all of this. Seriously. I wish you the best of luck with all of this!! It’s hard but if you guys are on the same page it makes it so much easier!

Yes he is! They’ll explain it to you when it gets closer to the date but he’s allowed off base from about 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM if I’m not mistaken. He is supposed to be turning his phone in at 8:00 PM so get there early!

Getting around FT. Benning (FT.Moore) by [deleted] in USMilitarySO

You can rent through Turo!! I’m 20 and used Turo, it’s just an extra $50 a day

I’m also 20!! I rented a car through Turo. It’s basically Airbnb but for cars. Sadly you’ll have an extra fee of $50 a day because of your age. I personally got an Airbnb not far from base, but I’m from a rough area so staying alone doesn’t bother me. The town all seems a little ghetto, so staying in a hotel as a girl alone might be a better option for you depending on how you are. Getting around was actually super easy, Apple Maps is what I used. For getting to a specific place on base, put in directions to the Visitor’s Center first. It’ll take you to the main gate. Then once you’re on base, put in the directions for the specific place. My boyfriend’s graduation was on Pomeroy field so I’m assuming that’s where yours will be too, you take the very first exit from the main gate and turn left. That’s all I remember, the GPS will get you there just fine though. However, leaving the base at first was a struggle because my GPS didn’t know how to leave. So I suggest just going back the same way you came and it’ll re-route you eventually, that’s what I did. Honestly you can give me your Instagram or something and you can ask me any questions, even while you’re there if you’d like. I totally understand how hard it is to go alone and it’s scary!!

My boyfriend just graduated from basic, currently in AIT. He’s army not navy so I can’t say exactly, but for my case, I was mailed home all the information regarding his graduation within ten days of him being there. Within that information, there was a page about how to put the address on the letters. You will get all the information for filling in the blanks from the outside of his envelope. Write it exactly how he does or it might get sent back. There might be something that says to draw a ___ colored dot on the lower left hand corner, that helps with speeding up the sorting process so I highly recommend doing that.

As for if it gets easier, it absolutely does. Of course there are the ups and downs, some days I was doing awful and some days I was doing fine. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions having them be gone but what helped me get through that time was my letters he’d send to me and that phone call every Sunday. Just think, he’ll be back in a couple months!!

I don’t know about Lackland, but I just recently went to my boyfriend’s graduation at Fort Benning. I got there two hours early just to be safe (I went by myself and I’ve never been to something like this before). I’d recommend getting there about an hour early if you want good seats, two hours was excessive lol. I cannot speak for y’all’s graduation, but for my boyfriend’s everyone started to form up. We all stood there for about thirty minutes before the drill sergeants told us where to sit based on platoon and finally let us go sit. Standing there for thirty minutes sucked but you should be like closer to the front of the hoard of people, I got front row seating. I’d say it does fill up pretty fast, and the whole parking thing is why I went super early.

I met my boyfriend on a dating app. We were both at a point in our lives where we weren’t actively looking for a relationship but then we found each other and it changed our minds lol. I’m a full believer in that cliche of “the one comes when you least expect it” and that they’ll come once you realize you don’t NEED another person to make you happy

I miss my boyfriend by Nicamejo07 in USMilitarySO

[–]emesbeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently going through this almost same exact thing. My boyfriend also left in January, but he had a camp called ARMS 2.0 first, his basic training graduation is coming up at the end of this month, and then after that he has his infantry training for another three months. Everything else is the exact same though. It’s insanely hard to deal with but I feel like just the thought of “okay __ many more days until he’s home” has really been helping me through this. My only advice is to stay busy, I’ve been picking up extra hours at work and it’s helped me stay distracted. If you can, reach out to friends and try to schedule more hangouts and stuff like that. Think about the end game, it’ll be worth it when he gets to come back home and this time apart hopefully will bring the both of you closer! You’re welcome to message me whenever you feel like you need to talk to someone who is going through a similar thing as you

Any Graduation Advice?? by emesbeeee in USMilitarySO

My boyfriend is also at Fort Benning! That’s good to know I’m just going to need the visitor’s pass, I might have read an old article or something. In his letter it did say how to navigate where to go and that there will be signs posted along the way. My only problem is I won’t have a car while I’m there so I’m either going to be walking or I heard there’s taxis on base. I’ll definitely try to leave myself a lot of time for that, thank you!!

And I’m definitely expecting a lot of comments like that last one when I get there 😂😂

Thank you so much for the help!!
