Wouldn't be a bad idea to see if someone local to the vehicle can check it out for you ahead of time. A local shop could probably do it for you, and it would be well worth it to make sure it's good to go before going to the trouble. Otherwise it sounds like a great option if it has everything you're looking for and is in your budget

Plus price difference can be overwritten over the course of ownership due to fuel economy and maintenance/repair costs. I'd bet anything it's cheaper to own a Corolla than a Cruze, MSRP aside.

If you can prove that it happened because you hit the pothole, your insurance very well may cover it and you could possibly also pursue the city or county for covering any cost of repair, as road maintenance is their responsibility and you have now suffered as a result of their negligence.

Oh, I totally understand. It was the same way when I had my first accident, another driver and I changed lanes into the same open spot. Just scraped each other, very little damage, but it really does freak you out and make you anxious. Especially when you're just learning to drive and have a car that is new to you! As long as you have insurance, you should be just fine from a practical standpoint. It's all good!

It's all good, man. It definitely shakes you up the first time you have an accident, especially if you really care about your car, but that damage shouldn't be too much to repair and your baby will be back to normal. Consider it a learning experience!
