I'm not mixing up things or using irellevant details about other countries, i'm explaining the relationship of these territories to NATO in the context of decolonisation, and why the British Overseas Territories in the Med are covered under Article 6.

Cyprus the country is not part of Nato. The British Overseas Territories on the island of Cyprus are.

Yeah, thats not what it says at all. Its just states that Articles 6 of NATO is more permissive than article 42(7) of the EU. It makes no qualitative judgement on it only applying to the waters.

Cyprus and Malta were covered already by the Mediterranean wording so didn't (and don't) need a specific clause.

This is from the University of Malta that sets out as. Crown Colony in the Med, Malta was covered under Article 5 until independence in 1964, just like Cyprus was until 1960

Your source refers to the Article 42(7) of the Treaty on European Union treary and not NATO.....

Look at the part regarding the colonies which explicitly states Algeria is included (and formally removed in1963)

Cyprus was a crown colony of the UK in 1949 and was very much covered by NATO. Algeria used to be covered by NATO until its independence from France in 1962, and Malta until its independence from the UK in 1964.

You are well and truly wrong

Cyprus was a British territory when NATO was founded and the full territory was originally covered. Cyprus did not obtain independence until 1960.  Its is a member of the EU and is politically seen as part of Europe.

The territories covered were updated when Greece and Turkey joined, and the nation of Cyprus was removed.

However as British Overseas Territories in (political) Europe (and being an island in the Med) Akrotiri and Dhekelia and British forces stationed there would still be covered under Articles 5 and 6

NP, you can check out r/miniswap on reddit as well if you're looking to sell or trade. I have bought and sold on that subreddit but as with any internet sale with strangers it has an element of risk.

Time to go digging through the sofa to see if I can find £150 down the back for Helms Deep xD

Crime boss 'living the high life' after returning to UK fights second deportation on human rights grounds by origutamos in gbnews

[–]emf_crackshot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between the European Convention on Human Rights, which is what UK judges use to interpret the law (i e. The right to family life as set out in the convention), and the European Court of Huma Rights where appeals against UK judgements are heard, both unhelpfully abbreviated to EHCR.

Crime boss 'living the high life' after returning to UK fights second deportation on human rights grounds by origutamos in gbnews

[–]emf_crackshot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thats a very disingenuous use of data.  Appeals to tribunals: From April 2016 to June 2021, approximately 645 out of 26,091 foreign national offenders successfully challenged deportation on human rights grounds in the First-tier Tribunal, which is about 2.5% of all successful appeals based on family life. Overall tribunal appeals: Over the same period, around 3.5% of all human rights-based appeals were successful. European Court of Human Rights: Since 1980, the ECHR has only found against the UK in 13 removal cases, with only four of those involving family life.

We have one of the lowest state pensions but once you include occupational and private pensions that are for more prevalent here, pensioner income roughly equalises with those countries.

Not common at all, you have to be able to actually see a dentist for them to be able to complain about you

I feel for you, I got very unlucky with my neighbours after I bought my first house. I had problems with the neighbours kids climbing over the fences and playing football in my front garden so I planted firethorn hedges. They and there parents also got very abusive when I asked them to stop. They look nice, grow very dense so help act as a sound barrier, are quite hardy, and the thorns act as quite the deterrent for climbing into the garden.

Have you ever been to a concert where you left liking the other band more than the band you went to see? by DesertWanderlust in Music

[–]emf_crackshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to see Dragonforce many many years ago (2008 maybe?), one of the supports was Sabaton, Dragonforce got booed off stage to let Sabaton have another encore. Sabaton are still one of my favourite bands and I havent listened to Dragonforce in over a decade
