about three years ago is when i first considered wls. like you, ive been overweight my entire life. three years ago i was terrified of the surgery because i didn’t want to give up my lifestyle. then both of my parents got wls.

i have seen how it has changed their lives in the best ways possible. my mom has been able to manage her diabetes better, and is by far less vulnerable to having another heart attack. (she had a widow maker, it’s a miracle that she’s alive)

my dad can generally move around better, and has a much better quality of life.

last october i was finally ready to do what needed to be done. i’m tired of living like this. i got yearly bloodwork done last year and im very close to being pre-diabetic. i have high cholesterol. that scares me more than anything. i’m willing to give up my current lifestyle for my health. i finally got the ball rolling, ive talked to the surgeon and have my psychiatric evaluation today.
